Lemuel's eyes narrowed, his grip on the chair tightening as he struggled to come to terms with Nova's betrayal. "How could you, Nova?" he spat, his voice low and venomous. "We're supposed to be a team, a partnership. But now I realize you've been playing both sides all along."

Nova's face paled, her eyes darting nervously around the room as if searching for an escape. "Lemuel, please listen—"

"Listen?" Lemuel's laughter was bitter. "You're telling me to listen? After everything you've done, everything you've kept from me?"

Nova took a step forward, her hands pleading. "I was trying to protect you, Lemuel. I knew you wouldn't understand—"

"Protect me?" Lemuel's anger boiled over, his voice rising. "You're not protecting me, Nova. You're using me. You're using us both."
