**The 35th Chapter: The Price of Deception**
Lemuel's anger still raged like a stormy sea, waves crashing against the shore of his sanity. Nova's betrayal had shaken him to his core, leaving him questioning everything they had shared. As he stared at Nova, he couldn't help but wonder if she was still the same person he thought he knew.
"You're saying you're working with the Black Market Alliance?" Lemuel's voice was laced with venom, his eyes burning with a fierce intensity.
Nova's gaze faltered, her expression a mix of guilt and defiance. "I didn't have a choice, Lemuel. They offered me a chance to save my family, and I took it."
Lemuel's grip on the chair tightened, his knuckles white with rage. "Your family? You're willing to risk everything we've built, everything we've fought for, for your family? What about our bond, our trust?"
Nova's eyes welled up with tears, but Lemuel didn't flinch. "You were always so caught up in the bigger picture, Lemuel. You never stopped to think about what it meant to leave your past behind. To leave your loved ones behind."
Lemuel's jaw clenched, his anger and hurt threatening to consume him. "You're saying I'm a monster, Nova? That I abandoned my family because I was too selfish to care?"
Nova's voice cracked as she shook her head. "No, Lemuel. I'm saying you're a hunter. And in this game, hunters don't get attached. We don't get sentimental. We get the job done."
The words cut deep, Lemuel's gut twisting with pain. He felt like he was staring into the abyss, the familiar landscape of their relationship crumbling beneath his feet.
"Get out," Lemuel whispered, his voice barely audible.
Nova's eyes pleaded, but Lemuel didn't budge. Slowly, she rose from the chair, her movements stiff and formal. "I'm sorry, Lemuel. I never meant to hurt you."
As she turned to leave, Lemuel's anger boiled over. "Don't apologize, Nova. Just don't. You're just like the rest of them – users, manipulators, and liars. And I'm done with it."
The door slid shut behind Nova, leaving Lemuel alone with the echoes of their shattered bond. He felt like he was drowning in the darkness, the weight of their broken trust threatening to crush him.
And yet, a spark of determination flickered to life within him. He would not be defeated. He would not be broken.
The hunt was far from over.
As Lemuel stood up, his eyes narrowed, a cold calculation settling over him. He had a score to settle, and he would stop at nothing to get it done.
But little did he know, the real predator was waiting in the shadows, ready to strike...
