"We need to get to the bottom of this," Nova said, her voice firm and resolute. "We can't trust them anymore."

Lemuel nodded in agreement. "I know. But we can't just take their word for it. We need proof."

Nova's gaze narrowed. "I know someone who might be able to help us."

She pulled out a comms device and dialed a number. After a brief moment, a familiar voice echoed through the connection.

"Kae, it's Nova. I need your help."

Kae, a skilled hacker and Nova's trusted ally, listened intently as Nova explained the situation. "I think the Nova Emporium is hiding something big. I need you to dig deeper and see what you can find."

There was a pause on the other end of the line. "I'm on it, Nova. But I need to warn you – I've heard rumors that the Nova Emporium is getting desperate. If they find out we're snooping around, they won't hesitate to take us out."

Nova's grip on the comms device tightened. "I know the risks. But I have to know the truth. Can you get me anything?"

Kae's voice was laced with determination. "I'll get you whatever I can. Just give me a few hours."

Nova nodded, even though she knew Kae couldn't see her. "I'll be waiting. And Nova – be careful. We don't know what we're up against."

As she ended the call, Nova turned to Lemuel. "The clock is ticking. Let's get moving."

Just then, the comms device beeped, signaling an incoming message from an unknown sender. Nova's instincts kicked in, and she quickly scanned the message.
