**Chapter 112: The Betrayed**

Nova's mind raced as she absorbed Lemuel's bombshell. The Nova Emporium, their trusted ally and partner, was hiding something. The evidence was circumstantial, but the implications were devastating. She felt like she'd been punched in the gut.

"Why?" she demanded, her voice low and even. "Why would they do this?"

Lemuel's expression turned grim. "I don't know, Nova. But we need to be careful. They could be playing both sides."

Nova's eyes narrowed. "I don't believe that. They're our friends, Lemuel. We've worked together for years."

"But we're hunters, Nova. We're used to dealing with dirty hands. We can't let our emotions cloud our judgment," Lemuel warned.

Nova's grip on her blaster tightened. "I'm not going to let them get away with this. We need to get to the bottom of this."

Lemuel nodded. "Agreed. But we need to be smart about it. We can't take on the Nova Emporium alone."

Just then, the comms system beeped. Nova's eyes flicked to the screen, and her heart skipped a beat. It was a transmission from the Nova Emporium.

"Lemuel, Nova, we need to talk," a gravely concerned voice said. "Meet me at the old cargo bay. It's urgent."

Nova's instincts screamed warning. This was a trap. But Lemuel's words echoed in her mind: "We can't let our emotions cloud our judgment."

"Nova, I think we should go," Lemuel said, his eyes locked on hers.

Nova hesitated, weighing the risks. But something deep inside her urged her to take the chance. Maybe this was a chance to clear the air, to find out what was really going on.

"Let's do it," she said, decision made.

As they walked towards the cargo bay, the tension was palpable. Nova's hand hovered over her blaster, ready for anything. Lemuel followed close behind, his eyes scanning the shadows.

What would they find when they got there? Nova's heart pounded in anticipation. Was this the end of their partnership, or the beginning of something new?

The cargo bay door slid open, revealing a figure standing in the shadows. Nova's heart skipped a beat as she recognized the figure.

"Rae?" she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Rae's eyes flickered with unease. "Nova, Lemuel, I'm glad you're here. I have something to tell you..."

Nova's instincts screamed warning. This was a trap. But was it too late to turn back now?

The fate of their partnership, and their very lives, hung in the balance.
