第67章 "Shadowed Loyalty"

太古神王

**Chapter 67: The Betrayal of Trust**

Qin Wentian's words hung in the air like a challenge, his anger still simmering just below the surface. Chu Ling'er's expression, however, remained as calm and serene as a lake on a windless day.

"You're... you're a monster," Qin Wentian repeated, his voice dripping with venom. "How could you do this to me? After everything we've been through, after all the times I've trusted you..."

Chu Ling'er's gaze didn't waver, her eyes glinting with a subtle hint of amusement. "Ah, Qin Wentian, you're so predictable," she said, her voice like silk. "You always expect people to be like you – noble, selfless, and blind to the truth."

Qin Wentian's face twisted in a snarl, his fists clenched at his sides. "How dare you! You're the one who's been lying to me, deceiving me all along! You're the one who's been playing me like a pawn in your game!"

Chu Ling'er's smile grew wider, her eyes sparkling with a mischievous light. "Ah, but Qin Wentian, you're so easy to manipulate. You're so convinced of your own righteousness, you never stop to think about the consequences of your actions."

Qin Wentian's rage boiled over, his eyes blazing with fury. "You're going to pay for what you've done!" he snarled, his fists flying at Chu Ling'er.

But the woman was faster, dodging his blows with ease. She caught his wrist, her grip like a vice. "Oh, Qin Wentian, you're so predictable. You always react on instinct, never thinking about the consequences."

Qin Wentian struggled against her grip, his face twisted in a snarl. "Let me go, Chu Ling'er! You're not going to get away with this!"

Chu Ling'er's smile grew wider, her eyes glinting with a sinister light. "Oh, but I have gotten away with it," she said, her voice dripping with malice. "And you, Qin Wentian, are going to pay the price for your trust."

With that, she released his wrist, her hand leaving a red mark on his skin. Qin Wentian glared at her, his eyes blazing with fury and hurt. "You're a monster, Chu Ling'er," he spat, his voice low and venomous.

Chu Ling'er's smile never wavered, her eyes sparkling with a mischievous light. "Ah, but you're the one who's been blind, Qin Wentian. You're the one who's been naive."

And with that, she turned and walked away, leaving Qin Wentian standing alone in the darkness, his heart heavy with betrayal and his mind reeling with the implications of what had just happened.

As he watched her disappear into the night, Qin Wentian felt a cold sense of dread creeping up his spine. He knew that he had to confront the truth, to face the reality of the world and the people in it. But as he turned to leave, he heard a faint whisper in his ear...

"The price of trust is always betrayal."

And with that, the darkness closed in around him, leaving Qin Wentian alone to face the shadows of his own doubts and fears.

To be continued...
