第66章 "Monster's Whisper"

太古神王

**Chapter 66: The Shattered Illusion**

Qin Wentian's rage had reached its peak, his eyes blazing with fury as he gazed at Chu Ling'er. "You're... you're a monster," he spat, his voice low and venomous.

Chu Ling'er's expression remained serene, her eyes glinting with a hint of mockery. "Ah, Qing Wang, you're so quick to judge. But haven't you ever wondered why I did what I did?"

Qin Wentian's anger boiled over, his fists clenched as he took a step closer to Chu Ling'er. "Why? Because you're a traitor? Because you've been playing me all along?"

Chu Ling'er's lips curled into a cold smile. "You're so naive, Qing Wang. I did what I did because I had to. And you know why?"

Qin Wentian's eyes narrowed. "Tell me."

Chu Ling'er's gaze drifted away, her voice taking on a distant tone. "You see, when I was a child, I was always fascinated by the legends of the ancient gods. I believed that they were the epitome of power, of wisdom, of everything that was good and just. But the older I got, the more I realized that those legends were just that – legends. And the gods themselves were nothing but mere mortals, flawed and weak."

Qin Wentian's grip on his fists tightened, his anger threatening to consume him. "So you're saying that you betrayed me because of some childish fantasy?"

Chu Ling'er's eyes snapped back to his, her gaze piercing. "No, Qing Wang. I betraysed you because I saw the potential in you. I saw the power that lay within you, waiting to be unleashed. And I knew that if you were to become the master of the heavens, I would be nothing but a footnote in history."

Qin Wentian's rage reached new heights, his body trembling with fury. "You're a monster," he spat again, his voice barely above a whisper.

Chu Ling'er's smile grew wider, her eyes glinting with a hint of madness. "Ah, but I'm not the monster, Qing Wang. You are. You're the one who's been playing God, who's been using your power to control and manipulate others. And I'm just the one who's been awakened to your true nature."

As Chu Ling'er's words hung in the air, Qin Wentian felt the ground beneath him begin to shift. The world around him seemed to spin out of control, the truth crashing down upon him like a tidal wave.

And in that moment, Qin Wentian realized that he had been blind to the truth. He had been blinded by his own ambition, his own arrogance.

As the darkness closed in around him, Qin Wentian's eyes met Chu Ling'er's, and for the first time, he saw the truth. He saw the monster that lurked within her, and he saw the monster that lurked within himself.

The end.
