**Chapter 140: The Truth Revealed**

程星's words had left the engineer speechless, his face reddening with indignation. "You're saying that the transmission we received is of extraterrestrial origin?" he repeated, his voice laced with disbelief.

程星 nodded, his eyes unwavering. "I'm telling you, Wang, I've seen it with my own eyes. The signal is unlike anything I've ever seen before. It's... it's as if it's calling out to us."

Wang's expression turned from incredulous to calculating. "And you expect me to believe that this... signal is meant for us? For humanity?"

程星's face set in determination. "I'm not asking you to believe me, Wang. I'm telling you what I know. And what I know is that this signal is real, and it's trying to communicate with us."

Wang snorted. "Communiqué? You mean like some kind of intergalactic love letter or something?"

程星's eyes flashed with annoyance. "Wang, this is serious. We're not dealing with some kind of freak occurrence here. We're dealing with an alien civilization that's trying to reach out to us."

Suddenly, the room fell silent, as if the weight of their conversation had sunk in. Wang's eyes locked onto 程星's, a mixture of curiosity and trepidation written across his face.

"What do you think it's saying?" Wang asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

程星 hesitated, as if torn between revealing the truth and keeping it hidden. "I'm not sure," he admitted. "But I have a feeling that it's trying to warn us about something. Something big."

Wang's gaze narrowed. "What kind of warning?"

程星's eyes darted around the room, as if he was checking to make sure they were alone. "I think it's trying to warn us about the... the darkness that's coming."

Wang's expression turned pale, his eyes wide with fear. "What darkness?"

程星's voice dropped to a whisper. "I don't know. But I think it's connected to the... to the anomaly we've been tracking."

Wang's eyes snapped back to 程星's, a look of understanding dawning on his face. "You mean the anomaly that's been affecting our satellites?"

程星 nodded. "Yes. I think it's connected to that. And I think... I think we're running out of time."

As they spoke, the room around them seemed to grow darker, as if the shadows themselves were closing in. Wang's eyes locked onto 程星's, a sense of foreboding hanging in the air.

"What do we do?" Wang asked, his voice barely audible.

程星's eyes flashed with determination. "We have to find out what that signal is saying. We have to warn the world."

But as they spoke, the lights in the room began to flicker, as if the very fabric of reality was unraveling. And in the darkness, a single phrase echoed through their minds:

"The end is near."
