**Chapter 141: The Hidden Agenda**

程星's revelation had sent the engineer into a tailspin. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. "You're telling me that the transmission is from...an alien civilization?" he repeated, his voice trembling with incredulity.

程星 nodded solemnly. "I know it sounds impossible, but I've seen the data. I've analyzed the signal myself. It's of extraterrestrial origin, no doubt about it."

The engineer's face contorted in shock. "But what does it mean? What do they want from us?"

程星's expression turned grim. "That's the million-dollar question. But I think we're about to find out. I've detected a second signal, a response to the first transmission. It's ETA is only hours away."

The engineer's eyes widened in alarm. "What do we do?"

程星's jaw clenched. "We prepare. We need to know what we're dealing with. I've sent a team to the observatory to verify the signal. But I have a feeling that we're not going to be alone when that signal arrives."

suddenly, the lights in the room began to flicker, and the air grew thick with tension. The engineer's eyes darted around the room, as if he expected something to burst through the walls at any moment.

"程星, what's going on?" he demanded, his voice low and urgent.

程星's eyes locked onto the engineer. "I think we're being watched. I think there's someone else in the building, someone who knows more about this transmission than we do."

The engineer's face paled. "Who?"

程星's lips compressed into a thin line. "I'm not sure, but I have a feeling that it's not who we think it is. It's someone who's been hiding in the shadows, waiting for this moment."

As if on cue, the lights flickered once more, and the air seemed to vibrate with anticipation. The engineer's eyes locked onto 程星's, and for a moment, they shared a look that spoke of unease, of uncertainty, of fear.

Then, just as suddenly, the lights returned to normal, and the tension dissipated. The engineer's face was pale, but his eyes still burned with a fierce determination.

"What do we do,程星?" he repeated, his voice steady.

程星's eyes flashed with a mixture of fear and resolve. "We wait. We prepare. And we get ready to face whatever is coming our way."

As the words left his lips, the room seemed to grow darker, as if the shadows themselves were closing in. The engineer's eyes locked onto 程星's, and he knew that their lives were about to change forever.

And then, just as they were about to turn away, a voice whispered in their ears, a voice that sent shivers down their spines.

"We're here."
