第94章 "Midnight's Deadly Echo"

都市之最强狂兵

**Chapter 94: The Reckoning**

Xiao Zhan sat up in bed, his mind still foggy from the aftermath of the battle. He rubbed his temples, trying to shake off the lingering haze. His gaze fell on the clock on his nightstand - 2:47 AM. He must have dozed off after that desperate strike.

Just as he was about to get out of bed, his phone rang, shattering the silence. Xiao Zhan groggily reached for it, his eyes squinting at the screen. A text message from an unknown number flashed on the screen: "You're not done yet, Xiao Zhan. The real battle is just beginning."

Xiao Zhan's grip on the phone tightened as a chill ran down his spine. He knew that tone, that style of speech. It belonged to Shen Yi, his arch-nemesis and the leader of the Black Dragon gang.

He quickly got dressed and headed down to the office, his mind racing with possibilities. What did Shen Yi mean by "the real battle is just beginning"? Was he planning another attack? Xiao Zhan's instincts told him that this was more than just a simple threat.

As he arrived at the office, he found his assistant, Zhang Wei, waiting for him with a look of concern. "Boss, I've been trying to reach you all night. There's been a sudden surge in activity at the Black Dragon gang's headquarters."

Xiao Zhan's eyes narrowed. "What kind of activity?"

Zhang Wei hesitated before speaking. "I'm not entirely sure, but it looks like they're preparing for something big. We've had reports of heavy weapons and equipment being transferred in and out of the compound."

Xiao Zhan's jaw clenched. This was no ordinary activity. The Black Dragon gang was always up to something, but this seemed different. More calculated.

He turned to Zhang Wei. "Get me the surveillance footage and any intel you can gather. I need to know what's going on."

Zhang Wei nodded and quickly retreated to the control room.

Xiao Zhan sat back down at his desk, his mind racing with possibilities. The Black Dragon gang was notorious for their ruthlessness, but Shen Yi had always been a step ahead. This time, Xiao Zhan was determined to stay one step ahead of him.

Just as he was about to start reviewing the footage, his phone rang again. This time, it was a call from an unknown number. Xiao Zhan answered, his voice firm and commanding.

"What do you want, Shen Yi?" he asked, his eyes scanning the room for any signs of trouble.

Shen Yi's laughter echoed through the line, sending a chill down Xiao Zhan's spine. "You should know by now, Xiao Zhan. I always come out on top. And this time, I'm going to take what's rightfully mine."

Xiao Zhan's grip on the phone tightened. "What are you talking about?"

Shen Yi's laughter grew louder, more maniacal. "You'll find out soon enough, Xiao Zhan. But for now, just know that the game is afoot. And only one of us can emerge victorious."

The line went dead, leaving Xiao Zhan staring at the phone, his mind racing with the implications. What did Shen Yi mean by "what's rightfully mine"? And what game was he talking about?

Xiao Zhan's eyes scanned the room, his senses on high alert. He knew that Shen Yi was a master player, always staying one step ahead. But Xiao Zhan was not going to let him get the upper hand.

With a cold determination, Xiao Zhan stood up, his eyes burning with a fierce resolve. The game was on, and only one of them would emerge victorious. The question was, who would it be?
