都市之最强狂兵

**Chapter 93: The Awakening**

Xiao Zhan's eyes snapped open, and he found himself staring at the ceiling of his office. His mind was foggy, and his body ached all over. He rubbed his temples, trying to clear the haze. It had been a long time since he'd felt so drained.

As he sat up, he noticed a figure standing by the window. It was Shen Yi, his former comrade and nemesis. Xiao Zhan's grip on his chair tightened. What was Shen Yi doing here?

"Ah, Xiao Zhan, you're awake," Shen Yi said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "I was starting to think you'd sleep the day away."

Xiao Zhan's eyes narrowed. "What do you want, Shen Yi? You're not exactly a welcome guest in my office."

Shen Yi chuckled. "Oh, but I'm not here to visit. I'm here to propose a business opportunity. You see, I've been thinking about leaving the mercenary life behind, and I believe you could use someone with my skills."

Xiao Zhan's instincts screamed at him to be cautious. He knew Shen Yi was trouble, but he also knew that Shen Yi was a formidable fighter. "What makes you think I need your help?" he asked, his tone neutral.

Shen Yi smiled. "Let's just say I have a few... connections. Connections that could benefit your little business venture. And in return, I want a share of the profits."

Xiao Zhan snorted. "You think I'm stupid enough to trust you? You've never stopped trying to kill me, Shen Yi. Why should I trust you now?"

Shen Yi shrugged. "Because I'm tired of playing games, Xiao Zhan. I'm tired of being on the fringe. I want to be a part of something bigger than myself. And I think you're the key to that."

Xiao Zhan's eyes locked onto Shen Yi's. He could see the desperation in them, the hunger for power and recognition. He knew that Shen Yi was willing to do whatever it took to get what he wanted.

"Tell me, Shen Yi," Xiao Zhan said, his voice cold. "What's the real reason you're here? Is it because you want to be a part of something bigger than yourself, or is it because you want to take me down?"

Shen Yi's smile faltered for a moment before he regained his composure. "I'm here because I want to be a part of something bigger than myself, Xiao Zhan. And if that means joining forces with you, then so be it."

Xiao Zhan's eyes never left Shen Yi's. He knew that Shen Yi was lying, but he also knew that he couldn't rule out the possibility that Shen Yi was telling the truth. He needed to be careful, to keep his guard up.

"Very well, Shen Yi," Xiao Zhan said, his voice measured. "I'll consider your proposal. But don't think for a second that I'll trust you easily. You'll have to prove yourself to me first."

Shen Yi's eyes flashed with anger, but he nodded curtly. "I expected as much. But I'm willing to do whatever it takes to join your team, Xiao Zhan. Whatever it takes."

As Shen Yi turned to leave, Xiao Zhan couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. He knew that he was walking into a trap, but he also knew that he couldn't afford to pass up this opportunity.

The question was, what would happen next?
