第67章 "Blood-Stained Silence"
都市之最强狂兵
**Chapter 67: The Betrayal's Aftermath**
The battle had finally subsided, leaving behind a trail of destruction and chaos. Lin Qingxue, Cheng Wei, and Mr. Ling stood victorious, but their triumph was short-lived. As they surveyed the carnage, a sense of unease settled over them.
"Damn it, we need to get out of here," Cheng Wei growled, his eyes scanning the surrounding area. "The Zhang family's goons are probably already calling in reinforcements."
"But we can't just leave," Lin Qingxue said, her voice laced with frustration. "We need to make sure all the hostages are safe."
"I'll take care of it," Mr. Ling said, his expression grim. "You two get out of here and regroup."
As they made their way back to their hideout, Lin Qingxue couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. She glanced over at Cheng Wei, who was walking ahead of her, his eyes fixed on the ground.
"Hey, Cheng Wei, what's wrong?" she asked, her tone softer.
He stopped in his tracks, turned to face her, and nodded. "Just thinking about what happened back there. We didn't exactly plan for a betrayal."
Lin Qingxue's grip on her gun tightened. "Who betrayed us?"
Cheng Wei's eyes narrowed. "I don't know, but I have a feeling it wasn't the Zhang family. We need to investigate this further."
As they approached their hideout, Lin Qingxue noticed that something was off. The usually secure compound was breached, and their usually reliable informants were nowhere to be found.
"Cheng Wei, what's going on?" she asked, a sense of unease creeping up her spine.
Cheng Wei's face turned grim. "I think we're being set up. We need to get out of here, now."
But it was too late. As they turned to make a run for it, they were surrounded by a group of heavily armed men.
"You two are coming with us," one of them sneered. "The Zhang family wants to have a little chat."
Lin Qingxue's eyes locked onto the speaker, her mind racing with anger and betrayal. "You're one of them, aren't you?" she accused, her gun trained on the man.
He smirked. "You'll find out soon enough. But for now, let's just say... our little game is far from over."
As the men closed in, Lin Qingxue knew that her world was about to change forever. The battle may have been won, but the war was far from over.
