第68章 "Blood and Silence"

都市之最强狂兵

**Chapter 68: The Price of Deceit**

The silence that followed the battle was oppressive. Lin Qingxue, Cheng Wei, and Mr. Ling stood amidst the ruins of the Zhang family's stronghold, their breathing heavy, their eyes scanning the carnage. The once-loud sounds of gunfire and screams had given way to an unsettling stillness.

"It's done," Lin Qingxue said finally, his voice low and gravelly. "The Zhang family is finished."

Cheng Wei nodded, his eyes still fixed on the devastation around them. "But at what cost?" he asked, his voice laced with a mixture of anguish and anger.

Mr. Ling's gaze was distant, his expression unreadable. "We did what needed to be done," he said, his voice devoid of emotion.

But Lin Qingxue's eyes narrowed. "At what price?" he repeated, his voice rising in anger. "Our alliance with the Zhang family was a sham, a lie. They used us, played us like pawns in their game of power and revenge."

Cheng Wei's eyes snapped back to Lin Qingxue's. "You're saying we were betrayed?" he asked, his voice tight with tension.

Lin Qingxue's jaw clenched. "I'm saying we were manipulated. And we paid the price for our naivety."

As they spoke, a figure emerged from the shadows, his eyes fixed on Lin Qingxue with a mixture of hatred and resentment.

"You're wrong, Lin Qingxue," the man said, his voice dripping with venom. "The true price was paid by the innocent. The true price was the blood of the innocent."

Lin Qingxue's eyes locked onto the man's, his expression cold and calculating. "Who are you?" he asked, his voice low and menacing.

"My name is Chen Keqiang," the man replied, his eyes never leaving Lin Qingxue's. "And I was the one who called in the Zhang family's favor. I was the one who orchestrated this entire operation."

Lin Qingxue's expression didn't change, but his eyes betrayed a flicker of surprise. "Why?" he asked, his voice neutral.

Chen Keqiang's smile was cold and calculating. "Because I wanted to make an example of you, Lin Qingxue. Because I wanted to show you that no one is above the law, not even a legendary special forces operative like yourself."

The air was thick with tension as Lin Qingxue's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with the implications. He knew that he had to take action, to stop Chen Keqiang before he could carry out his next move. But as he looked around at the aftermath of the battle, he couldn't shake the feeling that he was walking into a trap.

And that's when it hit him - the price of deceit, the price of betrayal. The price that he had to pay for his own survival.

The chapter ends with Lin Qingxue's eyes locked onto Chen Keqiang's, his mind racing with the implications of the situation. Will he be able to take down Chen Keqiang and his accomplices? Will he be able to escape the trap that he's walking into? The next chapter will reveal all.
