第170章 "Secrets in the Shadows"
谍影风云
**Chapter 170: "The Blind Spot"**
I leaned back in my chair, my eyes never leaving Rachel's face. "You're not going to tell me, are you?" I asked, my tone low and menacing.
Rachel's expression remained neutral, but I could see the faintest flicker of unease in her eyes. "What are you talking about, Lin?" she asked, her voice sweet and innocent.
I snorted. "Don't play dumb with me, Rachel. I know you're hiding something. And I'm going to find out what it is."
Rachel's eyes flashed with a hint of anger, and for a moment, I saw a glimmer of the real person beneath the mask. "You're just being paranoid, Lin. I'm trying to help you."
I raised an eyebrow. "Help me? By lying to me and hiding secrets? You're supposed to be my ally, Rachel. Not my enemy."
Rachel's face fell, and for a moment, I thought I saw a glimmer of guilt. But then her expression hardened, and she spoke in a cold, detached tone. "I'm just doing my job, Lin. And my job is to protect the organization."
I felt a surge of anger and betrayal. "The organization? You mean the one that's secretly working against us? The one that's trying to kill us?"
Rachel's eyes widened, and for a moment, I thought I saw a flicker of fear. But then her expression returned to neutral, and she spoke in a flat tone. "I'm just doing my job, Lin. And my job is to protect the organization."
I slammed my fist on the table, making Rachel jump. "You're not going to get away with this, Rachel. I know you're involved, and I'm going to find out what's going on."
Rachel's eyes flashed with anger, and for a moment, I thought she was going to attack me. But then her expression softened, and she spoke in a cold, detached tone. "I'm sorry, Lin. But I have to do what's best for the organization. And that means sacrificing you."
I felt a chill run down my spine as I realized the truth. Rachel was working against me. She was a double agent, and she had been playing me all along.
I stood up, my heart pounding with fear and anger. "You're going down, Rachel. You're going to pay for what you've done."
Rachel's eyes narrowed, and for a moment, I thought I saw a glimmer of triumph. "You're just being paranoid, Lin. I'm just doing my job."
But I knew the truth. Rachel was a traitor, and she was going to stop at nothing to achieve her goals.
And as I watched her walk away, I knew that I had to take drastic action. I had to take down the organization, and I had to take down Rachel.
But as I turned to leave, I felt a sudden pang of fear. I realized that I had a blind spot, a weakness that Rachel had been exploiting all along.
And that was myself.
