谍影风云

**Chapter 160: "The Devil's Advocate" (Part 2)**

Rachel's words cut deeper than any knife. I felt like I'd been punched in the gut, leaving me gasping for air. The trust we'd built over the years, the secrets we'd shared, all of it was just a lie. I struggled to find my voice, my anger and hurt warring for dominance.

"You knew everything about me," I repeated, my voice low and even. "And you used that against me. Why, Rachel? What did you gain from this betrayal?"

Rachel's expression remained impassive, but a flicker of amusement danced in her eyes. "Let's just say I gained a new perspective. One that showed me the truth about our little organization."

I felt a chill run down my spine. "What do you mean?"

Rachel leaned forward, her voice taking on a conspiratorial tone. "You see, Lin, we're not just fighting against a foreign power. We're fighting against an ideology that's rooted in lies and deceit. And I realized that by staying with the organization, I was enabling that very thing."

I shook my head, trying to process her words. "You're saying you're working against us?"

Rachel nodded. "I am. And I'm not the only one. There are others out there who see the truth. And they're willing to fight for it."

I felt like I'd been punched again. This time, it was my trust in the organization that was being shattered. "What does this have to do with you being here tonight?" I asked, my voice cold and detached.

Rachel smiled, a cold, calculated smile. "I'm here to offer you a choice, Lin. You can either continue to play by the rules, or you can join me. Together, we can take down this corrupt organization and bring truth to the world."

I laughed, a harsh, humorless sound. "And what makes you think I'd ever work with someone like you?"

Rachel's expression turned serious. "Because, Lin, I know you're not just a puppet. You have a conscience, and you have a sense of justice. And that's what I need to make this organization fall."

I raised my gun, my finger tightening around the trigger. "I'll never work with you, Rachel. And I'll never let you get away with this."

Rachel's eyes never left mine, her smile growing wider. "Ah, but Lin, you're forgetting one thing. I have an ace up my sleeve. And it's going to change everything."

As she spoke, I saw a glimmer of something behind her. Something that made my heart skip a beat. And then, in an instant, everything went black.

To be continued...
