第24章 "Beyond the Forbidden Peak"

诸天万界之旅

**Chapter 24: The Ancient Ruins**

Lin Yuan's determination was unyielding as he gazed at Cloud Peak. "I'll prove it to you, Professor. I'll go to the ancient ruins and retrieve the proof you've been seeking."

Cloud Peak's expression turned skeptical. "You think you can just waltz into the ancient ruins and retrieve the proof? You're not even a skilled warrior, let alone a scholar."

Lin Yuan's eyes flashed with anger, but he kept his composure. "I've studied the ancient texts, Professor. I know the layout of the ruins and the secrets they hold. I can get in and out without anyone noticing."

Cloud Peak snorted. "You're just a foolish mortal, Lin Yuan. You have no idea what you're up against. The ancient ruins are treacherous, and the artifacts within are powerful. You'll be lucky if you make it out alive."

Lin Yuan's jaw clenched in determination. "I'm not asking for your permission, Professor. I'm telling you that I'll be going. And when I return, I'll bring proof of my claim."

With that, Lin Yuan turned and disappeared into the night, leaving Cloud Peak to wonder if he was making a grave mistake.

As Lin Yuan made his way to the ancient ruins, he could feel the weight of the unknown pressing down on him. He had studied the layout of the ruins, but nothing could prepare him for the treacherous paths and hidden dangers that lay within.

As he navigated the crumbling structures, Lin Yuan's senses were on high alert. He could feel the energy of the ancient artifacts emanating from the walls, drawing him deeper into the ruins.

Suddenly, a faint whispering echoed through the air, sending shivers down Lin Yuan's spine. "Get out while you still can," the whispers seemed to say. "This is not a place for mortals."

Lin Yuan's grip on his sword tightened. Who was speaking to him? And what did they want from him?

As he rounded a corner, Lin Yuan caught sight of a figure cloaked in shadows. "Who are you?" he demanded, his sword at the ready.

The figure emerged from the darkness, its face twisted into a malevolent grin. "I am the guardian of the ancient ruins," it hissed. "And you, Lin Yuan, are trespassing on sacred ground."

Lin Yuan's eyes narrowed. "I'm not looking for trouble," he said. "I'm just trying to prove my claim."

The guardian sneered. "You think you can prove anything here? You're just a foolish mortal, playing with forces beyond your control."

Lin Yuan's jaw clenched. "I'm not afraid of you," he said, his voice steady.

The guardian laughed, a cold, mirthless sound. "We'll see about that, Lin Yuan. Let's see how long you last against the trials of the ancient ruins."

And with that, the guardian vanished, leaving Lin Yuan to face the unknown dangers that lay ahead.

To be continued...
