第29章 "Deceit Unveiled"
一念永恒
**Chapter 29: The Confrontation**
White Xiaopu's anger was almost palpable, threatening to consume him whole. He took a step forward, his eyes locked onto the figure who had betrayed him. "You...you're the one who's been using me all along. Why?"
The figure, a cold smile spreading across their face, shrugged. "Let's just say I saw potential in you, White Xiaopu. Potential that I was willing to nurture."
White Xiaopu's anger boiled over, his voice rising to a shout. "You used me! You played me like a fool!"
The figure chuckled, their eyes glinting with amusement. "Ah, but you were so willing to be played. You were so eager to prove yourself, to become stronger. I simply gave you a push in the right direction."
White Xiaopu's fists clenched, his knuckles white with rage. "I hate you," he spat.
The figure laughed again, the sound sending a shiver down White Xiaopu's spine. "Ah, but I'm not the one you should hate, White Xiaopu. You should hate yourself. You're the one who's been blind to the truth all along."
White Xiaopu's eyes narrowed, a glimmer of understanding dawning on him. "You're telling me that I was blind because I wanted to believe in you? Because I wanted to believe that you were my friend?"
The figure nodded, their smile growing wider. "Exactly. You were so blinded by your own desire to become stronger, to become a true cultivator, that you ignored the warning signs. You ignored the warning signs because you didn't want to admit that you were being played."
White Xiaopu's face twisted in a mixture of anger and shame. "I...I didn't know," he protested, his voice cracking.
The figure shrugged. "You didn't want to know. You were too proud, too arrogant. But now, you know the truth. And now, you have a choice to make."
White Xiaopu's eyes flashed with determination. "I'll take my revenge," he growled.
The figure chuckled, their eyes glinting with amusement. "Oh, I'm shaking in my boots, White Xiaopu. But before you can take your revenge, you'll have to get through me."
And with that, the figure drew a sword, its blade glinting in the dim light of the room. White Xiaopu's eyes narrowed, his heart racing with anticipation. This was it. This was the moment of truth.
But just as the battle was about to begin, a loud crash echoed through the room, followed by the sound of shattering glass. The figure's head snapped around, their eyes flashing with surprise.
White Xiaopu took advantage of the distraction, striking out with a fierce cry. But as he did, he realized that the figure was no longer there. It had vanished, leaving behind only the faintest hint of their presence.
White Xiaopu's eyes scanned the room, his heart pounding with confusion. What had just happened? Had he really just imagined the whole thing?
But as he turned to leave, he heard a faint whisper in his ear. "The game is far from over, White Xiaopu. You've only just begun to play."
And with that, the room went black, leaving White Xiaopu to wonder what lay ahead. Had he really just seen the figure disappear? Or was it all just a trap, a clever illusion designed to keep him off balance?
Only time would tell. But one thing was certain - White Xiaopu's journey was far from over.
