第99章 "Midnight Betrayal"

铁血战王

**99章:「权力的游戏,权力之战—暗夜的协议」(The Game of Power, Battle for Power—Midnight Pact)**

The dim light in the room seemed to amplify the intensity of the conversation. Captain Zhang's eyes gleamed with a calculating intensity as he leaned back in his chair, his hands steepled together in contemplation.

"So, you're telling me that the enemy has received intel on our plans?" Lin Hao's voice was laced with skepticism.

Captain Zhang nodded grimly. "Yes, it seems that someone on our side has sold us out. The enemy is aware of our mission to capture the key military base in the eastern region."

Lin Hao's face twisted in disgust. "Who could be so treacherous? We're supposed to be comrades in arms!"

Captain Zhang's expression turned cold. "I don't know, but I do know that we can't afford to underestimate the enemy. They'll stop at nothing to achieve their goals."

The room fell silent, the only sound the soft ticking of the clock in the background. Lin Hao's mind was racing with the implications of the betrayal. He couldn't believe that someone on their own team would betray them.

Suddenly, the door burst open and a young soldier, Lu Wei, stumbled into the room. His face was covered in sweat and his eyes were wide with fear.

"Captain, sir! We've received a report that the enemy has launched a surprise attack on our outpost in the eastern region. The fighting is intense and we're taking heavy losses!"

Captain Zhang's eyes snapped into focus. "Get me more information, now!"

Lu Wei nodded and scrambled out of the room, leaving Lin Hao and Captain Zhang alone once more.

Captain Zhang's gaze met Lin Hao's, his eyes burning with a fierce determination. "We can't let the enemy gain the upper hand. We have to act fast, or risk losing everything we've worked for."

Lin Hao nodded, his jaw set in determination. "Count me in, Captain. We'll stop at nothing to protect our comrades and our mission."

As the clock struck 1:00 AM, the room fell silent once more, the tension palpable. The game of power had reached its climax, and the battle for power was about to begin. But just as the players were about to make their moves, a new player entered the game, changing the dynamics of the situation forever.

And that's when everything went dark.

The lights flickered and died, plunging the room into darkness. The clock stopped ticking, and the silence was oppressive.

Lin Hao's heart was racing, his senses on high alert. He could feel the weight of the situation bearing down on him, the gravity of their predicament.

And then, a faint light flickered to life, casting eerie shadows on the walls.

Captain Zhang's voice was low and deadly. "What's going on?"

A figure emerged from the darkness, a cold, calculating gaze fixed on the pair.

"I think it's time we started playing the game, Lin Hao," the figure said, its voice dripping with malice. "And you're not playing by the rules."

The room fell silent once more, the tension building to a fever pitch. The game of power had just taken a deadly turn, and the stakes were higher than ever before.
