The dim light in the room still lingered, but the tension had reached a boiling point. Captain Zhang's eyes had never left Wang Yong's face, his gaze piercing and unwavering.
"So, Wang Yong, you're saying you had nothing to do with the leaks?" Captain Zhang's voice was low and even, but the words were laced with a hint of skepticism.
Wang Yong's face remained expressionless, his eyes locked onto Captain Zhang's. "Captain, I'm telling you the truth. I have no idea who could have done it."
Captain Zhang snorted. "Save it, Wang Yong. We've been over this a dozen times already. I know you're hiding something."
Wang Yong's voice remained calm, but a hint of desperation crept into his eyes. "Captain, I'm telling you, I'm innocent. If I had anything to do with the leaks, I'd admit it. But I didn't, and I swear on my honor as a soldier that I didn't."
The room was silent for a moment, the only sound the ticking of the clock in the background. Then, without warning, Captain Zhang slammed his fist onto the table.
"Enough, Wang Yong! I've had enough of your lies!"
Wang Yong's eyes widened in shock as Captain Zhang grabbed him by the collar and dragged him out of the room.
"What's going on here?" a voice boomed from the hallway, followed by the sound of footsteps.
It was Colonel Li, the team leader of the Special Forces. He strode into the room, his eyes scanning the scene before him.
Captain Zhang's face was red with rage, his eyes blazing with anger. "Colonel, Wang Yong here is behind the leaks. I caught him in the act."
Colonel Li's expression turned stern. "What are you talking about, Captain?"
Captain Zhang's grip on Wang Yong's collar tightened. "He's been leaking classified information to the enemy. I have proof."
Wang Yong's eyes grew wide with panic. "Colonel, please, you have to believe me. I didn't do it."
Colonel Li's eyes narrowed. "Captain, I want to see this 'proof' you're talking about."
Captain Zhang's face twisted in a snarl. "Fine, I'll show you."
He led Colonel Li out of the room, leaving Wang Yong behind. The soldier's eyes were filled with desperation as he stared after them, his mind racing with thoughts of escape.
But he knew it was futile. He was caught, and he knew it.
As the door closed behind them, a single figure remained in the room, watching with cold, calculating eyes. It was Zhang Hong, the team's intelligence officer, and she had been listening in on the conversation from the shadows.
A sly smile spread across her face as she reached for her phone. She had a message to send, one that would change the course of the battle to come.
And as she slipped out of the room, the clock struck midnight, marking the beginning of a new era of power struggles and betrayals.
