铁血战王
**83章:「权力的选择」(The Choice of Power)**
The air in the room was electric, charged with the tension of a thousand volts. Captain Zhang's eyes seemed to burn with an inner fire, as if the very fate of the team hung in the balance. Lin Hao, on the other hand, stood firm, his jaw set in a resolute line.
"You're making a mistake, Captain," Lin Hao said, his voice low and even. "I'm not going to betray my teammates for power or position."
Captain Zhang's gaze never wavered. "You'd do well to remember who's in charge here, Lin Hao. I'm the one who's been leading this team to victory, not you."
"I'm not questioning your leadership, Captain," Lin Hao replied, his eyes never leaving the older man's face. "But I am questioning your methods. We're not a team of mercenaries, working for whoever pays the most. We're soldiers, sworn to protect and serve our country."
Captain Zhang's expression darkened. "You're getting too big for your britches, Lin Hao. You think you're some kind of hero, but you're just a foolish kid who doesn't know the first thing about war."
Lin Hao's face twisted in anger, but he bit back his retort. He knew better than to provoke Captain Zhang further.
The silence that followed was oppressive, heavy with unspoken accusations and resentment. Finally, Captain Zhang spoke, his voice dripping with disdain.
"I don't want to hear any more of your naive idealism, Lin Hao. You're dismissed. Get out of my sight before I lose my temper."
Lin Hao's heart sank, but he didn't flinch. He turned on his heel and left the room, the door slamming shut behind him like a prison gate.
As he walked away, he could feel the weight of Captain Zhang's gaze on his back, as if the older man was daring him to return. Lin Hao's anger and frustration simmered just below the surface, but he forced himself to take a deep breath and calm down. He knew that he couldn't let his emotions get the better of him. Not now, not when the stakes were so high.
But as he disappeared into the darkness, he couldn't shake the feeling that his world was about to come crashing down around him.
