第46章 "A Silence That Cut Deeper"

天龙傲世

**Chapter 46: The Fracture**

Xie Yuan's gaze remained unwavering, as if daring Lin Wan'er to say another word. The air was heavy with tension, the silence between them a palpable presence. Lin Wan'er's eyes flashed with anger, her cheeks flushing with indignation.

"You're really something else, Xie Yuan," she spat, her voice low and venomous. "You apologize to me, yet still manage to hurt me like you just did. What's the point of even saying sorry?"

Xie Yuan's expression remained stoic, but a hint of pain flickered in his eyes. He knew he had gone too far, and now the rift between them seemed insurmountable.

"I...I was wrong," he said, his voice barely audible. "I shouldn't have said those things."

Lin Wan'er's laughter was a cold, mirthless sound. "You're always wrong, Xie Yuan. You never listen, never consider anyone else's feelings. You only care about yourself and your precious pride."

Xie Yuan's eyes narrowed, his face twisting with anger. "How dare you! I'm trying to apologize, and this is how you respond? You're the one who's always pushing me away, who's always making me feel like I'm not good enough for you."

Lin Wan'er's eyes flared with outrage. "Not good enough for me? You're the one who's always walking all over me, who's always treating me like I'm nothing more than a plaything. I'm sick of it, Xie Yuan. I'm sick of being hurt by you, of being used by you."

The words cut deep, and Xie Yuan felt a pang of regret. He knew he had to make things right, but he was unsure how.

"I...I'll do better," he said, his voice heavy with emotion. "I promise you that. I'll make sure to always consider your feelings, to always be there for you."

Lin Wan'er's expression remained skeptical. "Save it, Xie Yuan. I don't want your empty promises. I need concrete actions, not just words."

The silence that followed was oppressive, the weight of their unspoken emotions hanging in the air. Xie Yuan knew he had to do something, but he was unsure what. He could feel the fracture between them growing wider, and he didn't know how to bridge the gap.

As the silence stretched on, Xie Yuan's mind raced with thoughts of how he could repair the damage. But just as he was about to speak, a sudden commotion outside their quarters interrupted the tense atmosphere.

"What's going on?" Lin Wan'er asked, her voice sharp with concern.

Xie Yuan's eyes snapped towards the door, his instincts on high alert. "I don't know," he said, his voice low and menacing. "But I think we're about to find out."
