第130章 "Silent Fury Unleashed"

天龙傲世

**Chapter 130: The Confrontation**

The silence that followed the wine jug's crash was akin to a ticking time bomb, waiting to erupt into chaos. Xie Yuan's gaze was still fixed on Lin Wan'er, his eyes burning with a mixture of anger and betrayal.

"Xie Yuan, what's going on?" a patron asked, his voice trembling slightly. "Why did you do that?"

Xie Yuan's gaze never wavered. "You shouldn't be here," he growled, his words dripping with venom. "You're a traitor, Lin Wan'er."

Lin Wan'er's face paled, but she refused to back down. "I'm not a traitor, Xie Yuan," she spat. "You're just blinded by your own egos and biases."

The inn's patrons gasped, their whispers growing louder as they sensed the escalating tension. Xie Yuan's eyes flashed with fury, and his hand instinctively went for the hilt of his sword.

"You're not worthy of being my friend, let alone my ally," Xie Yuan snarled, his voice echoing through the inn.

Lin Wan'er's eyes flashed with defiance. "I never asked to be your friend or ally," she retorted. "I only wanted to help you, but you're too arrogant to listen."

The patrons watched in horror as the two former friends engaged in a fierce verbal battle, their words dripping with venom and hatred. Xie Yuan's sword slid noiselessly out of its sheath, and Lin Wan'er's hand instinctively went for the dagger at her waist.

Just as it seemed like the confrontation was about to escalate into a physical fight, the inn's doors burst open, and a group of heavily armed mercenaries stormed in. Their leader, a burly man with a scar across his cheek, glared at Xie Yuan and Lin Wan'er.

"You two are a bit too loud for our liking," he growled, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword. "We're here to take care of some... business. And you're both coming with us."

Xie Yuan's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with possibilities. He knew that this was no ordinary group of mercenaries – they were hired by someone who wanted to use Lin Wan'er as leverage.

"Who sent you?" Xie Yuan demanded, his voice cold and detached.

The mercenary leader sneered. "That's not your concern, Xie Yuan. What matters is that you're coming with us – whether you like it or not."

With that, the mercenaries closed in, surrounding Xie Yuan and Lin Wan'er. The inn's patrons watched in stunned silence as the two former friends were dragged out of the inn, leaving behind a trail of broken glass and shattered relationships.

As they disappeared into the night, Xie Yuan's eyes locked onto Lin Wan'er's, a spark of determination igniting within him.

"This isn't the end," he vowed, his voice barely audible over the sound of the mercenaries' laughter. "I'll find out who sent you, and I'll make them pay."

The mercenaries' leader turned back to face the inn, a cruel smile spreading across his face. "Oh, I'm shaking in my boots," he sneered. "You're just a foolish little kid, Xie Yuan. You're no match for the powers that be."

As the mercenaries disappeared into the night, the inn's patrons whispered among themselves, their eyes darting nervously towards the darkness outside. Little did they know that a storm was brewing, one that would shake the very foundations of the martial world.

And Xie Yuan, with his determination burning brighter than the stars, was ready to take on the challenge head-on.
