第129章 "Silent Departure"

天龙傲世

**Chapter 129: The Aftermath**

The inn's patrons slowly regained their composure, their whispers and gasps dying down as they exchanged nervous glances. Xie Yuan's gaze remained fixed on Lin Wan'er, his eyes burning with a fierce intensity that made her skin prickle.

"I think it's time we left," Lin Wan'er said, her voice barely above a whisper. She glanced around the inn, her eyes avoiding Xie Yuan's piercing stare.

"Where are you going?" Xie Yuan's voice was low and even, but his words cut through the air like a knife.

Lin Wan'er hesitated, her heart pounding in her chest. "I need to gather my thoughts," she said finally, her voice steady.

Xie Yuan's eyes narrowed. "You're not going to get away that easily, Lin Wan'er," he said, his voice dripping with menace.

Lin Wan'er's eyes flashed with anger, but she kept her cool. "What are you talking about, Xie Yuan?" she asked, her voice dripping with sweetness.

Xie Yuan's smile was cold and calculating. "Don't play dumb, Lin Wan'er. I know what's going on. You're working with the Mavericks, aren't you?"

Lin Wan'er's eyes widened in surprise, but she quickly recovered. "What makes you think that?" she asked, her voice innocent.

Xie Yuan snorted. "Don't bother lying. I have my ways of finding out. You're in this up to your neck, Lin Wan'er. And I'm going to make you pay for it."

The inn's patrons gasped as Xie Yuan's words hung in the air like a challenge. Lin Wan'er's eyes flashed with anger, and for a moment, it seemed like she would lunge at Xie Yuan. But then, she seemed to regain her composure, her expression turning cold and calculating.

"You're making a big mistake, Xie Yuan," she said, her voice dripping with venom. "I'll take you down, and I'll make sure you pay for what you've done."

Xie Yuan's smile grew wider, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Oh, I'm shaking in my boots, Lin Wan'er. But I'm not going anywhere. I'll make sure you pay for your treachery."

The inn's patrons watched in rapt attention as the two enemies locked eyes, their animosity crackling in the air like electricity. It was clear that the stakes had just been raised, and that the battle between Xie Yuan and Lin Wan'er was far from over.

As the tension hung in the air, Lin Wan'er turned and walked away, leaving Xie Yuan to seethe with anger. But as she disappeared into the night, a figure emerged from the shadows, her eyes fixed on Lin Wan'er's retreating figure.

The figure, a woman with piercing green eyes and raven-black hair, was none other than Jiang Qing, the leader of the Mavericks. Her eyes seemed to burn with a fierce intensity as she watched Lin Wan'er disappear into the night.

"Lin Wan'er, you're playing with fire," she whispered to herself. "But I'll make sure you burn for it."

And with that, she vanished into the night, leaving Xie Yuan and the inn's patrons to wonder what was really going on. The storm that had been brewing all day finally broke, and the aftermath was going to be devastating.
