第32章 "Behind the Facade"

太古神王

**Chapter 32: The Shattered Mask**

Chu Ling'er's eyes never left Qin Wentian's gaze, her pupils constricting as if she was trying to ward off some unseen force. Qin Wentian's eyes seemed to bore deeper, as if he could see right through her mask of composure.

"You're hiding something," he repeated, his voice low and even. "I can feel it. You're not telling me the truth."

Chu Ling'er's lips curled into a cold smile. "What are you talking about, Qin Wentian? I'm not hiding anything from you."

Qin Wentian's eyes narrowed. "Don't play dumb, Chu Ling'er. I know you're not the innocent little girl you seem to be. You're hiding something, and I aim to find out what it is."

Chu Ling'er's smile never wavered, but Qin Wentian sensed a flicker of unease behind her eyes. He leaned forward, his voice dropping to a menacing whisper.

"You see, I have a way of extracting the truth from people. And I always get what I want. So, let's stop playing games, shall we?"

Chu Ling'er's eyes flashed with anger, but Qin Wentian remained unfazed. He reached out and wrapped his fingers around her wrist, his grip cold and unyielding.

"I'm not going to hurt you, Chu Ling'er," he whispered. "Not yet, at least. But I will find out what you're hiding. And when I do... you'll wish you'd never crossed me."

With that, Qin Wentian yanked Chu Ling'er out of the room, leaving the stunned onlookers to wonder what was happening. As they disappeared into the darkness, the air seemed to grow thick with tension, the weight of secrets and lies hanging heavy over them like a shroud.

And as they vanished into the night, a figure watched from the shadows, eyes gleaming with a cold, calculating intelligence. The mastermind behind the web of deceit, waiting patiently for the perfect moment to strike.

What secrets was Chu Ling'er hiding? And what would happen when Qin Wentian finally uncovered the truth? Only time would tell...
