第138章 "Whispers of Ashes"
龙血战神
**138 Chapter: The Whispering Winds**
As the sun began to set on the ravaged battlefield, Lin Feng's thoughts turned to the fallen warriors who had fought alongside him. The weight of their sacrifice still lingered in his mind, a bitter reminder of the price of victory. He gazed out at the burning citadel, the once-proud fortress now reduced to ashes and rubble.
"It's a pity we had to destroy it," said Commander Yang, approaching Lin Feng with a somber expression. "It was a symbol of the tyrant's power, a reminder of the horrors he inflicted upon our people."
Lin Feng nodded, his eyes still fixed on the burning citadel. "But it was necessary. The people of this land will never be free as long as that tyrant lived."
Commander Yang's expression darkened. "And what of the remaining enemy forces? We've received reports of a large army gathering in the west. We can't afford to let them regroup and launch a counterattack."
Lin Feng's eyes snapped back to the present, his mind racing with the implications. "I'll take a team and scout out their position. We need to know what we're up against."
As they began to plan their next move, a figure emerged from the shadows, her features illuminated by the flames of the burning citadel.
"Lin Feng," she said, her voice like a gentle breeze on a summer's day. "I see you've accomplished what you set out to do. Congratulations."
Lin Feng's instincts kicked in, his hand instinctively reaching for the hilt of his sword. "Who are you?" he demanded.
The woman's smile was enigmatic. "Just a humble observer, Lin Feng. But I think it's time we had a talk."
As she stepped forward, Lin Feng felt a shiver run down his spine. He sensed that this woman was not like any they had encountered before, and that their conversation would change the course of their journey forever.
"This needs to be quick," he said, his hand still resting on the hilt of his sword. "We have a war to win."
The woman's eyes glinted with amusement. "Oh, I think you'll find that our conversation will be worth your while. For now, let's just say that I have information that could change the course of your battle... and your fate."
As she spoke, Lin Feng felt the winds begin to whisper secrets in his ear, their soft murmurs weaving a spell of uncertainty around him. He knew that he had to be careful, for the thin line between victory and defeat was about to grow even thinner...
