第137章 "Victory's Bitter Taste"
龙血战神
**137 Chapter: The Shadow in the Light**
Lin Feng's gaze lingered on the ravaged battlefield, his mind reeling from the weight of victory. The enemy citadel, once a symbol of the ruthless tyrant's power, now lay in ruins. The stench of death hung heavy in the air, and the cries of the wounded still echoed through the silence.
As he stood there, a figure emerged from the shadows. It was Chen Xue, the leader of the resistance. Her eyes, once shining with determination, now seemed dull and tired.
"Lin Feng, we did it," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "We defeated the tyrant's army."
Lin Feng's expression turned grim. "At what cost?"
Chen Xue's gaze fell, and she nodded. "Many good men and women lost their lives today. But we must not forget the price we paid. The tyrant's army was brutal, and we can't afford to underestimate the destruction they brought upon our people."
Lin Feng's eyes narrowed. "I know. But what about the tyrant himself? What happened to him?"
Chen Xue's expression turned cold. "He's dead. Killed in the battle. His loyalists, however, are still at large. We must be prepared to face them."
Lin Feng's grip on his sword tightened. "I'm ready. But I have a feeling that this isn't the end. There's something bigger at play here, something that we don't understand yet."
Chen Xue's eyes locked onto his. "What do you mean?"
Lin Feng's voice dropped to a whisper. "I mean that I saw something strange during the battle. A figure, tall and imposing, with eyes that seemed to burn with an inner fire. I don't know what it was, but I have a feeling that it was connected to the dragon's blood within me."
Chen Xue's expression turned skeptical. "You're getting paranoid, Lin Feng. You've been through a lot in the past few days. Maybe you're just seeing things."
Lin Feng's eyes flashed with anger. "I'm telling you, I saw it. And I know that it's connected to the dragon's blood. We need to investigate this further, before it's too late."
Chen Xue's gaze lingered on his, before she nodded. "Very well. But we'll do it carefully. We can't afford to underestimate the enemy, or ourselves."
As they spoke, a faint glow began to emanate from the ruins of the citadel. Lin Feng's eyes snapped towards it, his heart racing with anticipation.
"What's happening?" Chen Xue asked, her voice low and urgent.
Lin Feng's voice was barely above a whisper. "I think the dragon's blood is stirring. And I think it's going to take us on a journey that will change everything forever."
The glow grew brighter, illuminating the darkening landscape. And Lin Feng knew that he was standing on the precipice of a new era, one that would be filled with wonder, danger, and discovery.
But as he looked out at the ruins of the citadel, he couldn't shake the feeling that they were being watched. And that the figure he had seen during the battle was waiting for them, its eyes burning with an inner fire.
