第44章 "Betrayal's Acid Sting"

**Chapter 44: The Reckoning's Bitter Taste**

Jaxon's hands still trembled with rage as he gripped the steering wheel, the memories of Lin Feng's betrayal still searing his mind. He had never felt such a depth of pain and anger before. The thought of it made his stomach churn with a mix of bitterness and helplessness.

As he drove through the night, his mind raced with revenge. He couldn't help but wonder how Lin Feng could do such a thing to him, to their friendship. The memories of all the good times they shared, the laughter, the triumphs, and the defeats, now felt empty and hollow.

The streets were deserted, but Jaxon's anger was like a raging fire that burned brighter with every passing minute. He felt like he was trapped in a nightmare from which he couldn't wake up.

Suddenly, his phone buzzed, breaking the silence. He glanced down at the screen, his heart racing with anticipation. It was a text from Lin Feng.

"Hey, Jaxon. I know you're still angry, but I wanted to apologize. I was wrong to betray you, and I promise it will never happen again."

Jaxon's anger boiled over, and he snarled, throwing the phone out the window. "You think an apology can fix everything? You broke my trust, Lin Feng. You crushed my heart. You're not sorry, you're just trying to save your own skin."

The phone lay on the pavement, a small, insignificant thing compared to the giant storm brewing inside Jaxon. He felt like he was at the edge of a cliff, with no safety net to catch him if he fell.

As he continued to drive, the darkness outside seemed to close in around him. The city lights blurred together, and he felt like he was lost in a sea of despair.

Just as he was starting to lose control, a thought struck him like a bolt of lightning. He slammed on the brakes, the tires screeching in protest.

"Wait a minute," he muttered to himself. "What's Lin Feng's plan? What does he want from me?"

A cold fear crept up Jaxon's spine as he realized that Lin Feng's betrayal might be just the tip of the iceberg. He felt like he was wading through treacherous waters, with no lifeline to cling to.

As he sat there, frozen in indecision, the city seemed to grow darker, the shadows deepening and twisting into sinister shapes. The night air was heavy with the scent of foreboding, and Jaxon knew that he was about to face the most epic battle of his life.
