**Chapter 26: The Web of Trust**

Lin Feng's mind was still spinning with the revelation that Jaxon had dropped on him. He couldn't believe that his friend, his teammate, his brother, could be hiding such a deep secret. The feeling of betrayal gnawed at him, making his stomach twist into knots.

"Jaxon, what's going on?" Lin Feng demanded, his voice low and even.

Jaxon sighed, his eyes clouding over. "I told you, Lin. I did it for you."

"For me?" Lin Feng's voice rose in incredulity. "How could you do this without telling me?"

"I knew you wouldn't understand," Jaxon said quietly. "You're always so focused on winning, on being the best. You wouldn't have cared about the consequences."

Consequences? Lin Feng's mind reeled as he thought back to all the times they'd practiced, all the times they'd worked together as a team. Had Jaxon been manipulating him all along? The thought sent a chill down his spine.

"You're saying that you've been playing me all along?" Lin Feng's voice was cold, detached.

Jaxon's eyes dropped, his face pale. "I'm saying that I did what I thought was best for our team. You were too busy thinking about your own goals to see the bigger picture."

The words stung, but Lin Feng refused to back down. "Our team? You mean the team you're secretly undermining?"

Jaxon's eyes snapped up, a flicker of anger crossing his face. "How dare you. I did it for us, for our future. You just don't see the endgame."

The endgame? Lin Feng's mind reeled as he thought back to all the times Jaxon had whispered in his ear, all the times he'd seemed to know exactly what to do. The pieces began to fall into place, and Lin Feng felt a cold dread creeping up his spine.

"You're trying to take us down, aren't you?" Lin Feng accused, his voice low and deadly.

Jaxon's eyes flashed with anger, but Lin Feng saw a glimmer of something else there, something that looked almost like fear. "You don't know what you're talking about," Jaxon spat, but his voice was shaking.

Lin Feng's eyes narrowed. He knew that look, that tone. He'd seen it before, in the mirror. "I think I do," he said, his voice dripping with ice. "And I'm going to expose you, Jaxon. Once and for all."

The air was thick with tension as the two player's eyes locked in a silent challenge. The outcome was far from certain, but one thing was clear: only one of them would emerge victorious.

As the scene faded to black, a single question hung in the air: what would happen when the truth came out?
