第27章 "Secrets in the Dark"

剑道独尊

**Chapter 27: The Silent Confession**

Chen Yang's unyielding gaze seemed to bore into the girl's very soul. She shifted uncomfortably under his scrutiny, her eyes darting around the room as if searching for an escape. But there were none. She was trapped, caught between her loyalty to the Sword Saint's disciples and her growing feelings for Chen Yang.

"I...I don't know what you're talking about," she stammered, her voice trembling with fear.

Chen Yang's eyes narrowed, his expression unyielding. "Don't play dumb with me," he warned, his voice low and deadly. "I know you're hiding something. Something big."

The girl's eyes flashed with defiance, but Chen Yang could see the fear lurking beneath. She was trapped, and she knew it.

"Oh, all right," she hissed, her voice barely audible. "I'll tell you. But you have to promise me one thing."

Chen Yang's eyes never left hers. "What is it?" he demanded, his voice cold and detached.

"That no matter what I say, you won't interfere. You won't try to stop me. You won't...you won't get involved."

Chen Yang's expression remained neutral, but his mind was racing. What was she hiding? And what did she mean by "getting involved?"

The girl took a deep breath, her eyes flashing with a mixture of dread and determination. "I'm one of the Sword Saint's disciples," she spat, her voice dripping with venom. "But I'm also...I'm also one of the ones responsible for your father's death."

Chen Yang's eyes snapped wide, his mind reeling in shock. His father's death. The one thing he'd been searching for all this time. The one thing that could ruin everything.

He felt his hands clench into fists, his heart pounding with rage. How could she? How could she betray him like this?

But as he looked into her eyes, he saw something there. Something that gave him pause. Something that told him that there was more to this story than meets the eye.

"What do you mean?" he demanded, his voice low and deadly. "What do you know about my father's death?"

The girl's eyes seemed to flash with a mixture of fear and determination, and for a moment, Chen Yang thought he saw a glimmer of something else. Something that looked almost like...hope.

But before he could decipher what she was thinking, the room around them began to blur and distort, the air thickening with an unseen force.

And then, everything went dark.

To be continued...
