第96章 "Midnight's Fury: Awakening"

都市之最强狂兵

**Chapter 96: Midnight's Fury**

Xiao Zhan threw off the covers and swung his legs over the side of the bed, his mind still reeling from the events of the previous night. He rubbed his temples, trying to shake off the remnants of the battle. The clock on his nightstand read 3:12 AM. He let out a deep sigh and stood up, his joints creaking in protest.

As he began to get dressed, his phone rang, shrill and insistent. Xiao Zhan's eyes narrowed as he saw the caller ID. "Song Wei?" he growled, already knowing the answer.

"What's going on, Zhan?" Song Wei's voice was laced with concern. "I heard rumors of a massive firefight in the city. Is it true?"

Xiao Zhan snorted. "Of course it's true. You think I'd let a little thing like that go unreported?" He paused, his mind racing. "But what's with the call? You know I'm not exactly in the mood for chit-chat at this hour."

Song Wei's tone turned serious. "Zhan, I have a problem. One of the Black Dragon Triads' top lieutenants, Hong Fei, has gone rogue. He's been causing chaos in the city, and the Triad's higher-ups are at a loss for what to do."

Xiao Zhan's eyes narrowed. "What does this have to do with me?"

"Well, rumor has it that Hong Fei is looking for you," Song Wei said. "Apparently, he's got a grudge against you from their last encounter."

Xiao Zhan's face darkened. "That's rich. The guy's a psychopath. What's his beef?"

Song Wei hesitated. "According to sources, Hong Fei claims you killed his brother during a raid a few years back. He's been seeking revenge ever since."

Xiao Zhan's anger boiled over. "That's a lie. I didn't kill anyone that night. But I'll give Hong Fei this – he's got balls, seeking me out like this."

Song Wei's tone turned urgent. "Zhan, be careful. Hong Fei's got a reputation for being ruthless. If he finds out where you are, he won't hesitate to take you down."

Xiao Zhan's eyes flashed with anticipation. "Don't worry, Song. I can handle myself. But I might need your help with something. Meet me at the old warehouse on 5th and Main at dawn. We'll discuss the details then."

Song Wei's voice was cautious. "What's going on, Zhan?"

Xiao Zhan's smile was cold. "Just a little gathering with some old acquaintances. You might want to bring your A-game."

As he hung up the phone, Xiao Zhan's mind was already racing ahead, planning his next move. He knew that Hong Fei wouldn't stop until he got what he wanted – revenge. And Xiao Zhan was ready to give it to him.

But at what cost?

The chapter ended with a cliffhanger, leaving the reader wondering what Xiao Zhan had planned for the meeting with Song Wei at the old warehouse, and what kind of trouble he would face with Hong Fei on his tail.
