第175章 "Trust Betrayed"
谍影风云
**Chapter 175: "The Confrontation"**
I slammed my fist on the table, the sound echoing through the dimly lit room. "You're telling me that one of our own is a mole? That's impossible." I glared at Rachel, my eyes burning with anger and suspicion.
Rachel's expression remained calm, but a flicker of concern danced in her eyes. "It's not impossible, Lin. I've seen the proof. The leak was carefully planned, and it had to be someone with access to high-level information."
I snorted, my mind racing with possibilities. "You're saying that one of our own is working with the enemy? That's treason." I leaned back in my chair, my eyes never leaving Rachel's face.
Rachel's voice was laced with a hint of sadness. "I'm saying that one of our own made a choice. A choice that compromised our entire operation."
I clenched my jaw, my anger simmering just below the surface. "I want to know who it is. Now."
Rachel hesitated, her eyes darting around the room as if searching for an escape route. "I... I need to see the proof first. I need to confirm the identity."
I slammed my fist on the table again, my patience wearing thin. "You're stalling. You're hiding something from me."
Rachel's face went pale, and for a moment, I thought I saw a glimmer of fear in her eyes. "I'm not hiding anything, Lin. I'm trying to protect you."
Protect me? From who? I thought, my mind racing with possibilities. From the mole? From the enemy? Or from Rachel herself?
I leaned forward, my eyes boring into Rachel's. "Tell me the truth. Who is it? Who is the mole?"
Rachel's voice was barely above a whisper. "I don't know, Lin. But I think it's someone close to you. Someone you trust."
My heart skipped a beat as I felt a chill run down my spine. Who could it be? I thought, my mind racing with suspects. My team? My handler? Or someone else entirely?
I glared at Rachel, my eyes burning with anger. "You're telling me that someone on my team is working against me?"
Rachel's expression was somber. "I'm telling you that someone you trust is a traitor. And we need to find out who before it's too late."
I nodded, my mind racing with the implications. "I'll take care of it. You just get me the proof."
Rachel nodded, a hint of relief flashing across her face. "I'll get you the proof, Lin. But be careful. The mole is dangerous, and they won't hesitate to kill to keep their secret."
I nodded, my heart heavy with foreboding. I knew I had to be careful, but I also knew that I couldn't let fear dictate my next move. I had to find out who the mole was and stop them before it was too late.
And as I turned to leave, I felt a gaze on me, a cold, calculating gaze that sent shivers down my spine. I knew that I was being watched, and that the game was far from over.
To be continued...
