第66章 "Shadow's Dark Proposal"

诸天万界之旅

**Chapter 66: The Shadow's Bargain**

Lin Yuan's eyes locked onto the mirror, the Shadow's words echoing in his mind like a mantra. "You want me to betray my friends and allies?" he asked, his voice laced with incredulity.

The Shadow's smile grew wider, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Ah, but that's the beauty of it, Lin Yuan. You don't have to betray them. Just... manipulate them. A little nudge here, a whisper there. They'll make the decisions for you, and you'll reap the rewards."

Lin Yuan's face twisted in disgust. "You're asking me to use them like pawns on a chessboard?"

The Shadow chuckled. "Oh, no. I'm offering you a chance to elevate them. To make them stronger, faster, and more powerful. And in return, you'll gain access to the secrets of the universe."

Lin Yuan's mind reeled as he processed the Shadow's words. He thought of his friends, his allies, and the countless lives they had saved together. Could he really betray that?

But the Shadow's words had planted a seed of doubt in his mind. What if this was the key to unlocking the secrets of the universe? What if this was the only way to ensure the safety of the worlds he had sworn to protect?

"I'll think about it," Lin Yuan said finally, his voice firm.

The Shadow's smile grew wider. "I knew you'd see things my way, Lin Yuan. And when you do, I'll be waiting. With a little... motivation, of course."

As Lin Yuan turned to leave, he felt a subtle tug on his sleeve. He turned back to find the Shadow holding out a small, intricately carved box.

"A little something to help you make your decision," the Shadow said, his eyes glinting with mischief. "Open it, and you'll see the possibilities."

Lin Yuan's hand reached out, hesitated, and then closed around the box. As he did, the mirror behind the Shadow seemed to ripple, like the surface of a pond disturbed by a stone.

And then, everything went black.

When Lin Yuan came to, he was lying on the floor, his head throbbing. The Shadow was nowhere to be seen, but the box was still clutched in his hand.

He opened it, and a wave of images flooded his mind. He saw himself wielding incredible power, bending reality to his will. He saw his friends and allies falling under his command, their eyes glazed over with a strange, otherworldly light.

And in the center of it all, the Shadow's face loomed, a constant presence, a constant whisper in his ear.

Lin Yuan's eyes snapped open, his heart pounding in his chest. He knew what he had to do. He had to destroy the box, to shatter the Shadow's hold on him.

But as he looked down at the box in his hand, he felt a strange, creeping sensation. As if the box was already inside him, waiting to be unleashed.

And with that thought, everything went black once more.

To be continued...
