第31章 "Echoes of the Forgotten"

诸天万界之旅

**Chapter 31: The Trap of the Past**

Lin Yuan's eyes scanned the ancient streets, taking in the ruins of the Lost City. He had never seen anything like this before. The crumbling buildings seemed to whisper secrets to each other, and the air was thick with an otherworldly energy.

As he ventured deeper into the city, Lin Yuan stumbled upon a hidden courtyard. In the center of the courtyard stood a massive stone statue, its eyes glowing with an ethereal light.

Suddenly, a figure emerged from the shadows. It was an old man, his face lined with age and experience. He introduced himself as the Guardian of the City, tasked with protecting the secrets of the Lost City.

"I've been waiting for you," the Guardian said, his voice low and gravelly. "You have a certain... aura about you. One that suggests you may be worthy of the city's secrets."

Lin Yuan's eyes narrowed. "What secrets? What do you mean?"

The Guardian smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Ah, you are curious. Very well, I shall tell you. The Lost City holds the key to unlocking the secrets of the universe. But it comes at a cost. Are you willing to pay the price?"

Lin Yuan hesitated, his mind racing with possibilities. He had come to the Lost City seeking adventure, not secrets. But something about the Guardian's words resonated with him.

"I'll do it," he said finally, his voice firm.

The Guardian nodded, a hint of approval in his eyes. "Very well. But be warned, once you know the secrets of the Lost City, there is no going back. You will be forever changed."

With that, the Guardian led Lin Yuan to a hidden chamber deep within the city. Inside, a glowing crystal pulsed with an otherworldly energy.

"This is the Heart of the City," the Guardian said, his voice filled with reverence. "It holds the secrets of the universe. But to unlock its power, you must first face your past."

Lin Yuan's eyes widened in surprise. "My past? What do you mean?"

The Guardian smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Ah, but that would be telling. You must face your past alone. But be warned, the memories you uncover may not be what you expect."

And with that, the Guardian vanished, leaving Lin Yuan alone in the chamber. Lin Yuan looked around, feeling a sense of trepidation. What secrets lay hidden in his past? And what consequences would he face once he uncovered them?

As he stood there, the chamber began to fade away, replaced by a vision of his past. Lin Yuan's eyes widened as he relived a memory he thought was long forgotten. The memory was of his childhood, of a person he had never forgotten. But why was she back in his mind now?

The vision vanished, and Lin Yuan found himself back in the chamber. But something was different. He felt a sense of unease, a sense that his past was about to catch up with him.

And then, just as he was about to leave, he heard a voice behind him. "Lin Yuan, you shouldn't have come here."

He turned to see a figure he had thought was long gone. A figure who had once been his closest friend.

"Who are you?" Lin Yuan demanded, his heart racing with fear.

The figure smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "You know exactly who I am. And you know why I'm here. But be warned, Lin Yuan, I'm not here to make friends."

And with that, the figure lunged at Lin Yuan, leaving him no choice but to defend himself. But as they fought, Lin Yuan realized that he was not alone. The Guardian of the City watched from the shadows, a hint of approval in his eyes.

And Lin Yuan knew that he was in for the fight of his life.
