第18章 "Beyond the Code's Veil"

诸天万界之旅

**Chapter 18: The Secret Chamber**

Lin Yuan's eyes still shone with excitement as he approached Cloud Peak, who was scrutinizing him with an unreadable expression. "Professor, I did it! I cracked the code!" he exclaimed, barely containing his enthusiasm.

Cloud Peak's gaze lingered on Lin Yuan before slowly tracing back to the ancient texts. "Ah, yes. You did indeed decipher the message. Well done, Lin Yuan."

But Lin Yuan's triumph was short-lived. Cloud Peak's expression turned grave, and his voice took on a somber tone. "However, I must caution you, Lin Yuan. The knowledge you've gained is not without consequence. The Whispering Walls hold many secrets, and we must be careful not to disturb the balance of the cosmos."

Lin Yuan's eyes widened in concern. "What do you mean? What secrets are hidden in the Whispering Walls?"

Cloud Peak's eyes seemed to bore into Lin Yuan's soul. "I'm not at liberty to disclose that information, Lin Yuan. But I will say this: the secrets you've uncovered are not meant for mortal eyes. You must be careful to keep this knowledge hidden, lest you attract unwanted attention."

Lin Yuan felt a shiver run down his spine. Unwanted attention? What kind of attention was Cloud Peak talking about? He pushed the thought aside, focusing on the professor's words instead. "I understand, Professor. I won't say anything."

Cloud Peak's expression softened slightly. "Good, Lin Yuan. Remember, knowledge is power, but it can also be a curse. Use your newfound understanding wisely."

As Lin Yuan nodded, a faint whispering echoed through the ancient library, a soft murmur that seemed to come from nowhere and everywhere at the same time. Lin Yuan's eyes snapped towards Cloud Peak, who was already walking away, disappearing into the shadows.

"Professor, wait!" Lin Yuan called out, but his voice was swallowed by the Whispering Walls.

Lin Yuan's heart pounded in his chest as he stared at the spot where Cloud Peak had vanished. What secrets was Cloud Peak hiding? And what did he mean by "unwanted attention"? He felt a creeping sense of unease, as if he was being watched by unseen eyes.

As he turned to leave the ancient library, Lin Yuan noticed a small, hidden door tucked away in the shadows. The door was adorned with intricate carvings, and it seemed to radiate an otherworldly energy. Lin Yuan's curiosity got the better of him, and he pushed the door open, revealing a secret chamber filled with ancient artifacts and mysterious devices.

A faint hum filled the air, and Lin Yuan's eyes widened as he stumbled upon a strange, glowing orb. The orb seemed to pulse with an energy that was both familiar and foreign, and Lin Yuan felt an inexplicable connection to it.

Suddenly, the orb began to glow brighter, and Lin Yuan felt himself being pulled towards it. He tried to resist, but it was too late. The orb enveloped him in a blinding light, and everything went dark.

To be continued...
