第148章 " Threads of Deceit, Entwined"

一念永恒

**Chapter 148: The Web of Deception**

White Xiaopu's eyes darted back and forth, searching for any signs of deceit. The stranger's words had sent his mind reeling, and he struggled to wrap his head around the implications. "You're saying that you're the one who's been manipulating the threads of fate, making people believe what you want them to?" His voice was laced with skepticism.

The stranger nodded, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. "That's right. I've been weaving a web of deception, manipulating the fabric of reality itself. And you, White Xiaopu, have been a crucial part of my plan."

White Xiaopu's grip on his sword tightened. "What do you mean?" he demanded, his voice low and even.

The stranger's smile grew wider. "You see, I've been searching for someone like you. Someone with a certain... potential. And when I found you, I knew that you were the perfect pawn in my game."

White Xiaopu's eyes flashed with anger. "You're saying that I'm just a pawn in your game? That I'm nothing more than a tool for you to use?"

The stranger shrugged. "Well, to put it bluntly, yes. You are a tool, White Xiaopu. A tool that I've been using to further my own interests. And I'm not the only one who's been playing you, either."

White Xiaopu's eyes narrowed. "What do you mean?"

The stranger leaned forward, his eyes glinting with malice. "I mean that there are others out there, White Xiaopu. Others who have been playing you, using you for their own purposes. And I'm the only one who can help you uncover the truth."

White Xiaopu's grip on his sword tightened further. "What do you want from me?" he demanded, his voice cold and deadly.

The stranger leaned back in his chair, a look of disappointment on his face. "I thought you'd be more willing to listen, White Xiaopu. I thought you'd be more willing to join me in my quest for power."

White Xiaopu's eyes blazed with fury. "You're insane," he spat, his sword flashing in the dim light of the room.

The stranger chuckled, a cold, mirthless sound. "Perhaps. But I'm the only one who can help you, White Xiaopu. The only one who can show you the true extent of your power."

As the stranger's words hung in the air, White Xiaopu felt a sudden jolt of realization. He knew that he had to make a choice, to decide whether to join the stranger in his quest for power or to strike out on his own.

But as he turned to leave, he heard the stranger's voice, low and menacing. "You can't escape me, White Xiaopu. I'll find you, no matter where you go. And when I do, you'll realize that I'm the only one who can truly help you."

White Xiaopu spun back around, his eyes blazing with determination. "I'll never join you," he spat, his sword flashing in the dim light of the room.

The stranger's smile grew wider, and he leaned forward, his eyes glinting with malice. "We'll see about that," he whispered, his voice dripping with evil intent.

As the stranger's words echoed through the room, White Xiaopu knew that he had to get out of there, to escape the stranger's clutches before it was too late. But as he turned to leave, he felt a strange sensation, a strange connection to the stranger that he couldn't explain.

And as he disappeared into the night, he knew that he would never be able to shake off the feeling that the stranger was still watching him, waiting for him to make a move.

The fate of White Xiaopu hung in the balance, suspended between the threads of fate like a puppet on a string. Would he join the stranger in his quest for power, or would he strike out on his own, forging his own path in the world of cultivation? Only time would tell.
