第120章 "Truth's Dark Shadow"

一念永恒

**Chapter 120: The Price of Lies**

The stranger's words hung in the air like a heavy fog, suffocating White Xiaopu's senses. He couldn't believe what he was hearing – the web of lies that had been spun around him, the deceit that had almost consumed him whole.

"Who are you?" White Xiaopu's voice was low and menacing, his eyes blazing with a fire that seemed to burn brighter with every passing second.

The stranger smiled, a cold, calculating smile that sent shivers down White Xiaopu's spine. "I am someone who has been watching you, White Xiaopu. Someone who knows your deepest secrets, your greatest fears."

The air was thick with tension as the two men locked eyes, the silence between them crackling with electricity. White Xiaopu's hand instinctively went to the dagger at his belt, his fingers wrapping around the hilt like a vice.

"Why should I trust you?" White Xiaopu spat, his voice venomous with disgust. "You've been lying to me from the very beginning. What makes you think I'd believe a word you say now?"

The stranger chuckled, a low, mirthless sound. "Because I have something that you want, something that could change the course of your life forever."

White Xiaopu's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with the possibilities. What could the stranger possibly have that would make him so desperate to reveal the truth? And what lay behind those cold, calculating eyes?

"I want to know what you're talking about," White Xiaopu growled, his hand tightening around the dagger.

The stranger leaned forward, his voice dropping to a whisper. "I know about the ancient text, White Xiaopu. The one that holds the secrets of the ancient arts. I know that you've been searching for it, that you'll do anything to get your hands on it."

White Xiaopu's eyes snapped wide, his heart racing with excitement. "How do you know that?" he demanded, his voice barely above a whisper.

The stranger smiled again, a cold, calculating smile. "I have my ways. And I'm willing to share that information with you... for a price."

White Xiaopu's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with the possibilities. What did the stranger want in return? And what lay behind those cold, calculating eyes?

"Tell me," he growled, his hand tightening around the dagger.

The stranger leaned forward, his voice dropping to a whisper. "I want you to do something for me. Something that requires your unique... talents."

White Xiaopu's eyes snapped wide, his heart racing with anticipation. What did the stranger want him to do?

"And what exactly does that mean?" he demanded, his voice cold and calculated.

The stranger smiled again, a cold, calculating smile. "I'll tell you when the time is right. But for now, let's just say that it's something that requires your... particular set of skills."

White Xiaopu's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with the possibilities. What lay behind those cold, calculating eyes? And what did the stranger want him to do?

As the two men locked eyes, the air was thick with tension, the silence between them crackling with electricity. White Xiaopu knew that he was standing at the precipice of a great abyss, one that could either lead him to greatness or unravel everything he thought he knew.

And he had a feeling that the stranger was just the tip of the iceberg...
