第118章 "Shadows Behind the Mask"

一念永恒

**Chapter 118: The Trap of Deception**

The air was heavy with the weight of secrets and lies. White Xiaopu's eyes never left the stranger's face, his mind racing with the implications of the stranger's words. "You're not who you say you are," he repeated, his voice low and even.

The stranger's expression remained calm, but a flicker of annoyance flashed across his eyes. "And who am I supposed to be?" he asked, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

White Xiaopu's eyes narrowed. "You're not Ling'er's friend," he stated, his words laced with conviction. "You're using her for something."

The stranger's smirk grew wider. "Ah, but I am her friend," he said, his tone sugary sweet. "And I'm here to help her."

White Xiaopu's face twisted in disgust. "You're lying," he spat. "I know you are."

The stranger's expression turned cold. "You don't know anything," he sneered. "You're just a foolish child who can't see the truth."

White Xiaopu's eyes flashed with anger, but he bit back his retort. He knew he had to keep his cool if he was going to get to the bottom of things.

The stranger leaned forward, his eyes glinting with amusement. "You want to know the truth?" he asked, his voice dropping to a whisper. "The truth is, Ling'er is in grave danger. And you're the only one who can save her."

White Xiaopu's heart skipped a beat. "What do you mean?" he asked, his voice trembling with excitement.

The stranger's smile grew wider. "She's being hunted," he said. "And if you don't help me, she'll die."

White Xiaopu's eyes widened in horror. "Who is hunting her?" he demanded.

The stranger's eyes glinted with a knowing light. "That's what I want to talk to you about," he said. "But first, you need to come with me."

Without waiting for an answer, the stranger stood up and strode out of the room, leaving White Xiaopu to follow or stay behind. White Xiaopu hesitated for a moment, then followed the stranger out into the night.

As they walked, White Xiaopu couldn't shake the feeling that he was being led further and further into a trap. But he had to know the truth. He had to know what was going on.

And so he followed the stranger, deeper and deeper into the darkness, until they reached a small, secluded courtyard. The stranger stopped in the center of the courtyard, his eyes glinting with a knowing light.

"Welcome to the heart of the darkness," he said, his voice dripping with menace. "This is where the truth begins."

And with that, the stranger vanished into thin air, leaving White Xiaopu alone in the dark, with only his wits to guide him. But as he looked around, he realized that he wasn't alone. There were eyes watching him, eyes that seemed to bore into his very soul.

And then, everything went black.
