星际猎人

**The 44th Chapter: The Confrontation**

Nova's gaze didn't waver, his eyes demanding an answer. Lemuel's expression remained neutral, but Nova could see the slightest flicker of unease beneath the surface.

"I'm saying that there's more to this than what you're seeing," Lemuel replied, his voice steady. "I know you're upset, but you can't just take my word for it. We need to get to the bottom of this."

Nova's face twisted in a snarl. "You're trying to gaslight me, Lemuel. You're trying to make me doubt myself."

Lemuel's eyes flashed with anger. "I'm trying to get the truth, Nova. That's it. You're the one who's being paranoid and accusatory."

The air between them crackled with tension. Nova's hand instinctively went to the hilt of his sword, his instincts screaming at him to draw it. But he hesitated, knowing that wouldn't solve anything.

"You know, Lemuel," Nova said, his voice dripping with venom. "I used to think you were my friend. But now I realize you're just another traitor waiting to strike."

Lemuel's face went white with anger. "How dare you," he spat. "I've been loyal to you for years, Nova. You're the one who's turned against me."

The words hung in the air like a challenge. Nova's eyes never left Lemuel's face, his mind racing with the implications. He knew he had to get out of there, to clear his head and think.

"I need some time, Lemuel," Nova said, his voice cold. "I need to think about what's going on."

Lemuel's expression twisted into a snarl. "You're going to regret this, Nova. I'll make sure of it."

Nova turned and strode away, Lemuel's parting words echoing in his mind like a curse. He knew he had to be careful, to keep his wits about him. But he also knew he couldn't shake off the feeling that his world was crumbling around him.

As he disappeared into the shadows, Lemuel's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with a plan. The game was far from over, and Nova was just about to find out what it truly meant to be a star-hunter.

The darkness seemed to close in around Nova, the stars twinkling like diamonds in the distance. He knew he had to move carefully, to stay one step ahead of Lemuel and his unknown allies.

But as he vanished into the night, a faint hum of engines pierced the silence. A message was coming in, one that would change everything.

"Lemuel's team is moving," the voice whispered, the words crackling with static. "They're heading for the orbital platform. Nova, you need to get there before they do."

Nova's eyes snapped back into focus, his mind racing with the implications. He knew he had to move fast, to get to the platform before it was too late.

And as he disappeared into the night, the stars seemed to twinkle with a sinister light, hinting at the secrets that lay ahead.
