星际猎人

**The 21st Chapter:** **The Web of Deceit**

As the sun set on the planet of New Venus, Lemuel Xio's brow furrowed in concern. Nova's information had raised more questions than answers, and he couldn't shake off the feeling that they were walking into a trap. He Present-ed himself and asked, "What do you think the secretary is hiding?"

Nova's expression turned serious, her eyes narrowing slightly. "I'm not entirely sure, but I think it's related to the mysterious disappearance of the governor's daughter. It's like she vanished into thin air, and no one seems to know what happened to her."

Lemuel's grip on his cane tightened. This was getting interesting. He leaned forward, his eyes locked onto Nova's. "What makes you think it's connected to our mission?"

Nova's voice dropped to a whisper. "I overheard some hushed conversations between the secretary and some shady characters. They were talking about a 'package' that needed to be delivered, and I think it's related to the governor's daughter."

Lemuel's eyes scanned the dimly lit room, his mind racing with possibilities. He couldn't believe that the secretary was involved in something so sinister. He turned to Nova, his voice low and urgent. "We need to get to the bottom of this. But we need to be careful. If the secretary is involved, we're dealing with powerful people who won't hesitate to eliminate us if we get in their way."

Nova nodded, her eyes flashing with determination. "I'm with you, Lemuel. We'll get to the truth, no matter what it takes."

Just then, the door slid open, and a tall, imposing figure strode in. His piercing blue eyes scanned the room, and his gaze landed on Lemuel. "Ah, Hunter Xio. I see you're still investigating the governor's daughter's disappearance."

Lemuel's grip on his cane tightened. This was the secretary, and he didn't look happy. "Secretary Ortega. What can I do for you?"

Ortega's smile was cold and calculating. "I think you know exactly what you can do. You see, I've been made aware of your... little investigation. And I'm afraid that's going to have to be put on hold."

Lemuel's eyes locked onto Ortega's, his mind racing with the implications. This was a power play, and he was about to be caught in the middle. He leaned forward, his voice low and even. "I'm not going anywhere, Secretary. I have a job to do, and I won't let anything get in my way."

Ortega's smile never wavered. "Oh, I think you will. You see, I have a little something that will ensure your cooperation. A package, if you will."

Lemuel's eyes narrowed, his instincts screaming at him to get out of there. But he was trapped, and he knew it. He was about to find out just how deep the web of deceit went, and whether he would emerge unscathed...
