第108章 "Shadows in the Boardroom"

星际猎人

**The 108th Chapter: The Web of Deceit**

Lemuel's eyes locked onto Nova's, his voice low and measured. "The Nova Emporium is hiding something, Nova. I'm convinced of it. And I think I know who might be behind it."

Nova's expression turned skeptical. "Who?"

Lemuel hesitated, his gaze darting around the dimly lit room. "Kaelin Sorensen. She's the CEO of Nova Emporium, but I've received rumors that she's been secretly meeting with known criminals on the black market."

Nova's eyes narrowed. "That's absurd. Why would she do that?"

Lemuel's lips curled into a sly smile. "Money, power, and influence. The usual motives for those in power."

Nova's face remained stern, but a flicker of doubt crossed her eyes. "I need proof, Lemuel. Concrete evidence before I can believe any of this."

Lemuel nodded, his eyes sparkling with intensity. "I have a source who's willing to meet with me tonight. He claims to have incriminating evidence of Kaelin's dealings. Are you coming with me?"

Nova's hesitation was palpable, but her competitive spirit eventually won out. "Fine. But if this is a wild goose chase, I'm blaming you."

As they made their way to the meeting point, Lemuel's mind raced with the possibilities. What did Kaelin stand to gain from her supposed dealings? And what did it mean for the galaxy? The answers, he knew, lay hidden in the shadows, waiting to be uncovered.

They arrived at the abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of the city, the darkness seeming to swallow them whole. Lemuel's source, a hooded figure, materialized from the shadows.

"You're Lemuel, right?" the figure asked, their voice low and gravelly.

Lemuel nodded, his eyes fixed on the figure's-face obscured by shadows.

"Follow me," the figure said, disappearing into the darkness.

As Nova and Lemuel trailed behind, the silence was oppressive, heavy with anticipation. What secrets lay hidden in the shadows? And would they be able to uncover the truth before it was too late?

"Wait!" Nova called out, her voice laced with warning, as the figure vanished into the darkness.

Lemuel spun around, his eyes locked onto Nova's. "What's wrong?"

But before he could ask another question, a blindingly bright light enveloped them, and everything went black.

To be continued...
