第83章 第83章

网游之天下无双

**83. Web of Deceit: The Shadow Play**

Old Ghost's denials only seemed to fuel Lin Chao's anger. His voice rose, his words dripping with venom. "You're lying, Old Ghost. I have proof, and I'm not backing down."

Old Ghost's expression remained calm, but his eyes betrayed a hint of unease. "Proof? I don't know what you're talking about, Lin Chao."

Lin Chao's eyes never left Old Ghost's face. "Don't play dumb, Old Ghost. I know you've been sneaking into my character, manipulating my actions. I know you're the one who's been holding me back."

Old Ghost's composure began to crack, his voice taking on a tone of desperation. "Lin Chao, listen to me—"

"Enough!" Lin Chao's hand slammed down on the table, making Old Ghost jump. "I've had enough of your lies. You're going to pay for what you've done."

As the tension in the room reached a boiling point, the door to the room burst open, and a figure strode in. It was Shi Hao, Old Ghost's closest ally in the game.

"What's going on here?" Shi Hao's voice was laced with concern, but his eyes betrayed a hint of curiosity.

Old Ghost's face was a mask of innocence. "Just a misunderstanding, Shi Hao. Lin Chao is being unreasonable."

Shi Hao's gaze flicked between Old Ghost and Lin Chao, his expression unreadable. "I see. Well, I think I can help resolve this situation."

Lin Chao's eyes narrowed. "What do you know about this, Shi Hao?"

Shi Hao's smile was cold and calculating. "Only that Old Ghost has been having some... issues with his character lately. But I'm sure it's just a minor bug that can be fixed."

The air in the room seemed to thicken, the atmosphere becoming even more charged. Lin Chao's eyes locked onto Shi Hao, his mind racing. Was Shi Hao in on it too?

As the silence stretched out, Lin Chao's hand instinctively tightened around the hilt of his sword, his heart pounding in his chest. He knew he had to be careful, but he couldn't shake the feeling that he was being played.

And then, just as it seemed like the tension was about to snap, Shi Hao's expression changed, his eyes flashing with a hint of surprise.

"What's going on in the game?" he asked, his voice devoid of emotion.

Old Ghost's eyes flicked to Shi Hao, and for a moment, Lin Chao saw a glimmer of something in his eyes – a mixture of panic and fear.

"Wait," Old Ghost said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I think I know what's going on."

The room fell silent, the only sound the heavy breathing of the three characters. What did Old Ghost know? And what did it have to do with the mysterious events unfolding in the game?

As the chapter ended, Lin Chao's mind was racing with possibilities. He knew he had to be careful, but he also knew he had to keep pushing forward. For the sake of his character, and his own sanity, he had to uncover the truth behind Old Ghost's betrayal.

But as he looked at Old Ghost, he saw something that made his heart skip a beat. A faint glimmer of something in his eyes – a glimmer of desperation, of fear, of... something that made Lin Chao wonder if Old Ghost was even in control of his own actions anymore.
