第130章 "Behind the Mask of Deceit"

网游之天下无双

**130. The Betrayal of Trust**

Lin Chao's eyes never wavered, his determination to uncover the truth unwavering. Old Ghost's mask continued to stare back, its emptiness seeming to mock Lin Chao's efforts. The guild members shifted uncomfortably, sensing the tension that hung in the air like a palpable force.

"Why are you so stubborn, Old Ghost?" Lin Chao asked, his voice low and even. "Why hide the truth behind this mask?"

Old Ghost's mask remained expressionless, but a faint tremor ran through its stone-like surface, betraying a hint of surprise. "You're not as naive as you seem, Lin Chao," it said in a voice that sent shivers down Lin Chao's spine. "You're beginning to see through the facade."

The guild members exchanged uneasy glances, sensing the weight of the words. "What facade?" Lin Chao asked, his grip on his sword tightening.

Old Ghost's mask seemed to regard him with a mixture of pity and contempt. "The facade of our so-called friendship, of course. You're just a pawn in my game, Lin Chao."

The room fell silent, the weight of Old Ghost's words hanging like a challenge. Lin Chao's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with the implications. "You're saying... you're saying we're not friends at all?" he asked, his voice heavy with betrayal.

Old Ghost's mask inclined its head, a cold, calculated smile spreading across its face. "I've been using you, Lin Chao. Using you to get what I want. And now that you've outlived your usefulness... well, it's time for you to take a step back."

The guild members gasped, horror and disbelief etched on their faces. Lin Chao's hand tightened around his sword hilt, his heart pounding with rage and betrayal. "You're done," he growled, his eyes flashing with a fierce determination. "You're done using me, and you're done playing games."

Old Ghost's mask seemed to regard him with a cold, calculated amusement. "Oh, Lin Chao. You're so predictable. But don't worry, you'll still have a place in my game... a place right next to the other pawns I've collected."

The room seemed to erupt into chaos, the guild members shouting and arguing as Lin Chao's rage boiled over. But Lin Chao's attention was fixed on Old Ghost's mask, his eyes burning with a fierce determination.

And in that moment, the mask seemed to crack, a faint flicker of uncertainty flashing across its surface. Lin Chao's eyes locked onto the crack, his heart racing with excitement.

Could he... could he really be the one to reveal the truth?
