**72章:「权力之争」 (Contest of Military Authority)**
The tension in the room was palpable, as Lin Hao's piercing gaze seemed to bore into Captain Zhang's very soul. "What do you mean, Lin Hao?" Captain Zhang's voice was even, but his eyes betrayed a hint of unease.
"I mean, Captain, that this operation is a mess," Lin Hao replied, his tone dripping with disdain. "We've been struggling to get a handle on the enemy's movements, and now you're telling me we have to rely on...on civilians to get the job done?"
Captain Zhang's expression turned stern. "Lin Hao, you know as well as I do that our resources are limited. We can't just rely on our own troops to get the job done. We need all the help we can get."
Lin Hao snorted. "Civilians? You mean those ragtag groups of civilians who can barely shoot straight? How do you expect them to make a difference?"
Captain Zhang's jaw clenched. "Those civilians are not just any civilians, Lin Hao. They are experts in their field, and they have as much right to be here as we do."
Lin Hao's eyes narrowed. "Experts? You mean like that crazy old man who's been causing trouble in the village? The one who's always yelling about the government being out to get him?"
Captain Zhang's expression turned cold. "That's not the point, Lin Hao. The point is that we need to work together to get the job done. And if that means partnering with civilians, then so be it."
Lin Hao's gaze seemed to bore into the captain's very soul, as if searching for any sign of weakness. Finally, he spoke. "I'll do it, Captain. I'll work with the civilians. But don't expect me to be happy about it."
Captain Zhang nodded, a hint of relief washing over his face. "Good, Lin Hao. I knew I could count on you."
But as Lin Hao turned to leave, he couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. The captain's words seemed to be hiding something, and he couldn't help but wonder what it was.
As he walked out of the control room, he couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. Something didn't feel right. And as he looked around at the civilians gathered in the waiting area, he couldn't help but wonder what kind of team he was about to be a part of.
