**第51章: Ambush**
Zhao Jium's team crouched low, creeping silently along the corridor wall as they attempted to flank the mysterious figure. Lin Hao's eyes remained fixed on the doorway, his hand resting on the grip of his gun.
"This guy's not like any of the usual suspects," Lin Hao whispered to Zhao Jium, his voice barely audible over the creaking of the hallway's wooden floorboards.
Zhao Jium nodded, his eyes scanning the surrounding area. "We need to be careful. This could be a trap."
Just as they were about to make their move, the figure in the doorway suddenly spun around, its eyes locking onto the team. For a moment, the air was heavy with tension as the two sides faced off.
"Who are you?" Zhao Jium demanded, his voice firm but controlled.
The figure didn't respond, instead opting to raise its hand, and a small, flickering flame erupted from its palm. The team instinctively shielded their eyes, momentarily blinded by the sudden burst of light.
"Damn it, where did they learn that trick?" Lin Hao muttered, his eyes still adjusting to the sudden change in lighting.
As the team regained their vision, they saw the figure had taken a few steps back, its hand still holding the flame. Suddenly, a loud explosion rocked the hallway, sending debris flying everywhere.
"What the...?" Zhao Jium's voice trailed off as he stared at the destroyed section of wall.
The figure had vanished, leaving behind a bomb that had destroyed a significant portion of the corridor. The team quickly scrambled to regroup and reassess their situation.
"Fall back!" Zhao Jium shouted, his voice echoing off the walls. "We need to regroup and figure out what's going on!"
As they retreated back to their original location, Lin Hao couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. This was no ordinary ambush – it was as if they were being toyed with, being drawn into some kind of trap.
"What do you think that was all about?" Lin Hao asked Zhao Jium, his voice laced with concern.
Zhao Jium's expression was grim. "I don't know, but I have a feeling we're just getting started."
The team regrouped, their faces set with determination. But as they did, they couldn't shake the feeling that they were walking into a war, and they were far from ready.
"Keep your wits about you, team," Zhao Jium warned, his voice firm but low. "We don't know what we're up against, but we'll find out soon enough."
As they stood there, the silence was palpable, the only sound the creaking of the hallway's wooden floorboards and the distant hum of machinery. And then, without warning, the lights flickered and died, plunging the team into darkness...
