**146章:「暗夜的选择」(Midnight's Choice)**
"Keep firing, keep moving!" Zhao Ti yelled above the din of gunfire. His team responded, their weapons blazing away as they tried to pin down the enemy.
But the enemy was relentless, their return fire intense and accurate. Zhao Ti's team took cover behind a nearby boulder, panting and counting their losses. Two of their comrades lay motionless on the ground, their bodies riddled with bullets.
Zhao Ti's eyes narrowed as he assessed the situation. They couldn't stay here, not with the enemy so close. He had two options: push through the forest and try to outflank the enemy, or fall back and regroup.
"Bravo, take point," he ordered, his voice calm and decisive. "We need to get out of this kill zone."
But Bravo hesitated, glancing nervously at Alpha, who was busy trying to revive one of the wounded soldiers. "Zhao, are you sure?" Bravo asked, her voice trembling. "We're taking heavy fire. If we push through, we'll be sitting ducks."
Zhao Ti's jaw clenched. He knew Bravo was right, but he couldn't let their team get pinned down. "We don't have a choice," he said, his voice firm. "We need to keep moving. If we stay here, we'll be picked off one by one."
Alpha looked up, his eyes haunted. "But what about our wounded, Zhao? We can't just leave them behind."
Zhao Ti's expression softened. He knew Alpha was right, but they couldn't save everyone. "We'll try to get them out," he promised. "But we need to prioritize. We can't save everyone."
The team fell silent, weighing their options. Zhao Ti could see the uncertainty in their eyes, the fear of failure and the weight of responsibility.
Suddenly, a burst of gunfire erupted from the flank, sending up a shower of sparks as rounds ricocheted off the nearby rocks. The team instinctively drew back, their hearts racing.
"What's going on?" Zhao Ti demanded, his voice low and urgent.
Alpha shook his head, his eyes wide with alarm. "I don't know, but we're surrounded. They're closing in on us."
Zhao Ti's face went dark, his mind racing with the implications. They were cut off, surrounded, and outnumbered. It was a desperate situation, and they were running out of options.
"We need to get out of here, now," he growled, his voice a low snarl. "Fall back, fall back, now!"
The team scrambled to comply, their movements frantic and frantic. But as they retreated, Zhao Ti knew they were leaving behind their wounded comrades, and that the enemy was closing in for the kill...
...and that was when he saw them. A group of rebels, armed to the teeth and moving with deadly precision. They were the ones who had been tracking them, and now they had Zhao Ti's team right where they wanted them.
"Time's up," one of the rebels sneered, his eyes glinting with malice. "It's time to pay the price for your interference."
Zhao Ti's eyes locked onto the rebel leader, his mind racing with the realization that they were on their own, with no backup, no reinforcements, and no way out...
To be continued...
