天域神座
**第22章:黑暗的选择**
林啸转身, saw a figure emerging from the shadows. It was a woman with long, dark hair and piercing green eyes. She was dressed in a black leather jacket, and her presence seemed to command attention.
"Who are you?" Lin Chao demanded, his hand instinctively reaching for his gun.
"Ah, no need for that," she said, her voice low and husky. "My name is Xiaowen. I've been watching you three for a while now. I know what you're searching for."
Lin Chao narrowed his eyes. "What do you know?"
Xiaowen smiled, her eyes glinting with amusement. "I know that you're looking for the truth behind the Dark Style. And I know that you're willing to go to great lengths to get it."
Lin Chao's grip on his gun tightened. "What do you want?"
Xiaowen took a step closer. "I want to help you. I've been investigating the Dark Style myself, and I think I can be of use to you."
Kang Fei and Old Ghost exchanged skeptical glances. "Why should we trust you?" Kang Fei asked.
Xiaowen shrugged. "Because I'm tired of being in the dark. I'm tired of being manipulated by those who think they're above the law. If we work together, I think we can uncover the truth and bring those responsible to justice."
The three of them looked at each other, weighing their options. Lin Chao's expression was skeptical, but Kang Fei's eyes were gleaming with interest. Old Ghost, on the other hand, looked like he was about to fall asleep.
As they deliberated, the tension in the room grew thicker. It was as if they were standing at the edge of a precipice, staring down into an abyss of uncertainty.
"What do you say?" Lin Chao asked finally, his voice firm. "Are you with us, or against us?"
Xiaowen's smile grew wider. "I'm with you, for now. But be warned, I'm not going to be easy to trust."
And with that, she turned and disappeared into the shadows, leaving the three of them to ponder the implications of her words.
As they stood there, trying to make sense of the unexpected turn of events, a faint sound echoed through the corridor outside. It was the sound of footsteps, slow and deliberate. And it was getting closer.
"Looks like we have company," Lin Chao said, his voice low and deadly.
"Time to get out of here," Kang Fei muttered, his hand reaching for his gun.
Old Ghost just grumbled, "I'm too old for this crap."
But Lin Chao just smiled. "We're not going anywhere yet. We're going to see this through, no matter what."
And with that, the four of them stood united, ready to face whatever lay ahead. But as they waited, the shadows seemed to grow darker, and the air grew thick with anticipation. It was as if they were standing at the edge of a storm, waiting for the first bolt of lightning to strike.
And then, just as suddenly, everything went black.
To be continued...
