第80章 "Secrets Entwined in Flames"
天龙傲世
**Chapter 80: The Web of Deceit Burns**
The silence was about to consume them when Lin Wan'er's voice finally broke the spell. "You're not the only one who knows secrets, Xie Yuan," she said, her words dripping with venom.
Xie Yuan's gaze never wavered, his eyes burning with intensity. "I know you're hiding something, Lin Wan'er. Something that could destroy everything we've built."
Lin Wan'er's mask began to crack, the corners of her mouth twitching with anxiety. "You'll never find out what I'm hiding," she spat, but the conviction behind her words was beginning to falter.
Xie Yuan took a step closer, his voice low and menacing. "I have ways of extracting the truth. Ways that don't leave scars, but make sure the truth is revealed."
Lin Wan'er's eyes darted around the room, searching for an escape route. Her hand instinctively went to the dagger at her waist, but Xie Yuan was too quick. He seized her wrist, his grip like a vice.
"I don't need to hurt you, Lin Wan'er," he whispered, his breath hot against her ear. "But if you continue to dance around the truth, I'll make sure you regret it for the rest of your days."
Lin Wan'er's face contorted in a mixture of fear and defiance. "You'll never get away with this, Xie Yuan," she snarled, but her voice was weak and tremulous.
Xie Yuan's eyes flashed with triumph. "We'll see about that," he said, and with a sudden jerk, he yanked Lin Wan'er into a tight embrace.
The room erupted into chaos as Lin Wan'er's guards burst in, swords drawn. Xie Yuan's eyes never left Lin Wan'er's as he whispered, "It seems the web of deceit has just gotten a whole lot tighter, Lin Wan'er."
As the guards closed in, Lin Wan'er's eyes locked onto Xie Yuan's, a fleeting glimmer of understanding sparking between them. In that moment, she knew she was trapped, and the web of deceit was about to consume her.
But just as all hope seemed lost, a voice boomed from the shadows, echoing through the hall. "Release her, Xie Yuan!"
The room fell silent, all eyes fixed on the newcomer. Lin Wan'er's heart skipped a beat as she recognized the figure emerging from the darkness – none other than her estranged brother, the ruthless and cunning Lin Feng.
The air was electric with tension as Xie Yuan's grip on Lin Wan'er's wrist tightened, his eyes locked onto Lin Feng's. "You're a little late to the party, Lin Feng," he sneered.
Lin Feng's face twisted with rage. "I've been waiting for this moment for a long time, Xie Yuan. And now, it's time to settle the score."
The room was bathed in an eerie silence, the only sound the soft snapping of Lin Wan'er's guard's fingers as they primed their swords. The stage was set for a battle that would shake the very foundations of the martial world.
And Lin Wan'er, caught between her brother's wrath and Xie Yuan's fury, knew that her fate hung precariously in the balance.
