第61章 "Storming the Gates of Chaos"
天龙傲世
**Chapter 61: The Maelstrom Unleashed**
"Then by all means, let's settle this once and for all," Xie Yuan sneered, his eyes flashing with a fierce inner light. The room seemed to darken, as if the shadows themselves were drawn to the impending storm.
Lin Wan'er's smile grew wider, her eyes sparkling with a mischievous glint. "How would you like to settle it, Xie Yuan? A duel? A battle of wits? Or perhaps something a bit more... personal?"
Xie Yuan's face turned cold, his voice dropping to a low, menacing tone. "You know exactly what I want, Lin Wan'er. I want to know the truth about your past. What secrets are you hiding behind that mask of innocence?"
Wan'er's laughter was like silk, smooth and deadly. "Ah, but that would spoil all the fun, wouldn't it? You see, Xie Yuan, I've been playing a little game with you. A game of cat and mouse."
Just as Xie Yuan's eyes were about to blaze with fury, a commotion erupted at the entrance of the ancestral hall. The doors burst open, and a group of rough-looking men, each with a scar or a tattoo, strode in. They were the Red Vipers, a notorious gang rumored to be at the beck and call of the mysterious Red Pavilion.
The leader, a burly man with a cruel grin, approached Wan'er. "Lady Lin, we've come to collect our debt. You owe us a substantial sum, and we're not leaving until we get it."
Wan'er's eyes never left Xie Yuan's as she nodded lazily. "Ah, yes. I remember now. I did agree to pay you a certain... consideration. But I fear I've misplaced the funds. Can you wait a moment while I retrieve them?"
The Red Viper leader sneered. "You're stalling, Lin Wan'er. And that's not going to get you out of this. We're taking what's ours, one way or another."
As the tension built, Xie Yuan could feel the air around him grow thick and heavy. He knew he had to act fast, before things escalated further. He reached out with his mind, sensing the subtle energies within the room. And with a swift flick of his wrist, he unleashed a burst of kinetic energy, sending the Red Vipers stumbling back in surprise.
But just as Xie Yuan was about to capitalize on the distraction, Lin Wan'er's eyes locked onto his, a cold, calculating glint creeping into their depths. "I think it's time we took our leave, Xie Yuan. Don't you?"
As the Red Vipers reformed, their leader snarled, "You're not going anywhere, Lin Wan'er. Not until we get what's ours."
The room was plunged into chaos, the sound of clashing steel and shattered wood filling the air. Xie Yuan and Lin Wan'er vanished into the fray, leaving the Red Vipers to wreak havoc on the ancestral hall. And as the storm raged on, one question hung in the balance: would our heroes emerge victorious, or would the tempest consume them whole?
