第151章 "Shadows of Betrayal"

天龙傲世

**Chapter 151: The Web of Illusions**

Lin Wan'er's eyes narrowed, her fingers twitching with anger as she clenched her fist. "You're joining forces with the Black Rose Clan? After everything we've been through, after all we've shared, you're willing to betray me like this?"

Xie Yuan's expression remained impassive, his voice like ice. "I'm making a choice, Lin Wan'er. A choice that will benefit me and my future. You can't expect me to stay stuck in the past, to remain loyal to you and our failed dreams."

Lin Wan'er's face twisted in a mixture of hurt and fury. "Failed dreams? You're the one who's been chasing after those dreams, Xie Yuan! You're the one who's been selfish and reckless, never considering the consequences of your actions."

Xie Yuan's eyes flashed with annoyance, but he remained calm, his voice dripping with condescension. "And what about you, Lin Wan'er? What about your father's debts and your family's reputation? You've never truly been free, have you? You've always been bound by the shackles of tradition and responsibility."

Lin Wan'er's eyes blazed with indignation. "You don't know anything about me or my family. You never have. You're just a selfish, self-centered fool who only cares about your own ambitions."

The air was electric with tension as the two former lovers stood there, their words hanging like daggers in the air. The silence between them was now a chasm, a divide that seemed impossible to bridge.

Just then, a faint rustling sound came from outside the room, followed by the soft murmur of voices. Lin Wan'er's gaze flickered toward the door, her heart pounding in her chest.

"What's going on?" she whispered, her eyes locking onto Xie Yuan's.

He smiled, a cold, calculating smile. "I think it's time for us to part ways, Lin Wan'er. The web of consequences is about to unravel, and I don't want to be caught in the mess."

With that, he turned and walked away, leaving Lin Wan'er standing alone in the room, her mind reeling with shock and betrayal. But she knew she couldn't stay frozen in place. She had to move, to act, to uncover the truth behind Xie Yuan's betrayal.

As she turned to leave, she caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror. Her eyes were red-rimmed, her face pale, but her jaw was set in determination. She would uncover the truth, no matter the cost.
