第132章 "Silence before the Storm"

天龙傲世

**Chapter 132: The Betrayal**

The air in the inn was heavy with tension, the atmosphere crackling with unspoken threats. Xie Yuan's eyes still locked onto Lin Wan'er, his dark gaze seeming to pierce through her very soul. The patrons of the inn were on the edge of their seats, their whispers and murmurs reduced to mere breaths.

Without warning, Lin Wan'er's expression suddenly changed. Her eyes, once cold and calculating, now flashed with a hint of vulnerability. She took a step back, her hand instinctively reaching for the dagger at her waist.

"You're...you're not going to kill me, are you?" she stammered, her voice trembling.

Xie Yuan's gaze didn't waver. "Why shouldn't I?" he asked, his voice low and even.

The patrons of the inn gasped collectively, sensing the impending violence. But before anything could unfold, a commotion erupted at the inn's entrance.

A group of burly men, their faces twisted with cruel intentions, burst into the inn. "You're coming with us, Lin Wan'er!" one of them barked, his hand grasping for her arm.

Lin Wan'er's eyes flickered towards the strangers, her expression morphing from fear to anger. "Leave me alone!" she spat, her hand flashing with the dagger.

Xie Yuan's eyes narrowed. "It seems you're not as alone as you thought," he said, his voice dripping with venom.

The patrons of the inn watched in horror as the scene unfolded. The strangers, it seemed, were none other than Lin Wan'er's old acquaintances from the Green Dragon Sect.

"Xie Yuan, you're meddling in affairs that don't concern you," one of the strangers sneered, his hand tightening around Lin Wan'er's arm.

Xie Yuan's eyes flashed with anger. "I'm involved because you're involved with her," he growled, his hand reaching for his own dagger.

Lin Wan'er's eyes widened in shock as the two men clashed, their blades flashing in the dim light of the inn. The patrons of the inn scattered, cowering in terror as the violence erupted.

And then, just as it seemed Xie Yuan was gaining the upper hand, he suddenly halted, his gaze freezing on something behind the strangers. His eyes narrowed, his grip on his dagger tightening.

"What's going on?" Lin Wan'er demanded, her voice shrill with fear.

Xie Yuan's gaze never wavered. "It's him," he whispered, his voice dripping with menace. "My father."

The strangers' faces paled as one, their eyes darting towards the entrance of the inn. And that was when they saw him: Xie Rui, the legendary Xie Yuan's father, standing tall and imposing in the doorway.

The atmosphere in the inn seemed to freeze, the air thickening with an electric tension. Lin Wan'er's eyes locked onto Xie Rui's, her expression frozen in shock.

And as the silence stretched on, it became clear that this was far from over. The stakes had just been raised, and the game was about to take a deadly turn...
