天龙傲世

**Chapter 122: The Pursuit**

Xie Yuan's decision had sent shockwaves through the inn, where whispers and murmurs spread like wildfire. Lin Wan'er, sitting in the corner, her eyes cast downward, seemed to sense the weight of the situation. Her fingers drummed a staccato rhythm on the wooden table, a nervous habit that betrayed her turmoil.

As Xie Yuan walked out of the inn, the warm breeze carried the sweet scent of blooming flowers, a stark contrast to the turbulence brewing within him. He took a deep breath, the cool air filling his lungs, and began to make his way back to the clan.

Unbeknownst to Xie Yuan, Lin Wan'er had been secretly watching him from the shadows. Her eyes narrowed as she beheld the determination etched on his face. She knew that once she left the inn, there would be no turning back.

"Xie Yuan, wait!" Lin Wan'er's voice carried across the courtyard, her words laced with a mix of desperation and venom.

Xie Yuan spun around, his eyes locking onto hers. The tension between them was palpable, the air thick with unspoken words. Lin Wan'er took a step forward, her hand extended, as if pleading for forgiveness.

"Tell me, Lin Wan'er, what do you want?" Xie Yuan's voice was firm, yet tinged with a hint of disappointment. He had expected her to apologize, to beg for forgiveness, but instead, she seemed to be unraveling a different thread altogether.

"I want to come with you," Lin Wan'er said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I want to be by your side, to help you uncover the truth about the clan."

Xie Yuan's expression turned skeptical. "You want to help me? After what you did?" He spat the words, the venom in his tone a reflection of his anger and betrayal.

Lin Wan'er's eyes flashed with a hint of defiance. "I did what I had to do, to survive. But I never betrayed you, Xie Yuan. You know that."

Xie Yuan's gaze lingered on hers, the silence between them growing thicker. He knew that she was hiding something, but what? And why was she willing to risk everything to be by his side?

"Very well," Xie Yuan said, his voice dripping with reluctance. "But if you betray me again, Lin Wan'er... you will never be able to show your face in this world again."

Lin Wan'er nodded, a single tear rolling down her cheek. "I swear it, Xie Yuan. I promise to stand by your side, no matter what lies ahead."

As the two of them disappeared into the night, the wind carried a whispered warning: the pursuit had begun, and only one of them would emerge victorious.
